You are not going to change my mind, but go ahead and spout newspaper articles until you turn purple. You may change others. You can believe what you want. I don't read newspapers, much less the op-ed sections. I do not watch Fox News or CNN or MSNBC or any politically based shows. I basically make decisions on what I see, experience, and know to be facts, not on propaganda and certainly not someone else's opinion.

Packing a ballot with lengthy initiatives is one tactic to create long lines on Election Day. Far more disturbing is Florida Republicans' attempts to restrict early (Democratic) voting by actually reducing early voting days and hours (HB 1355):

-- 2007: Republican Charlie Crist takes office as governor of Florida.

-- November 2008 — President Barack Obama wins Florida, in part due to Democratic majority in early voting.

I think the entire early voting thing is a joke and should be done away with all together. If you can't vote on election day then simply use a absentee ballot. I never understood why they have early voting except for more ways to fraudulently vote especially when you don't have to present any form of ID to prove who you are.

1. Arizona was correct in the their points that the Federal government can tell the states how to run elections for 'Federal' offices but they do not tell the states who does and does not qualify to vote. That is the role of the state.

2. The Federal law indicating states 'must use' the federal form to allow people to vote is in force and states can not add other criteria to it - for 'Federal elections'. State and local elections are not affected.

3. 'Happily' (yes that word is in the ruling) the court found that states can petition the committee that manages the mandatory federal form to include criteria that matches their state requirements.

4. Because this path exist the state must use only the Federal form when qualifying someone to vote - in Federal office elections.

5. So the previous ruling was upheld and Arizona can not for people to show proof of citizenship in Federal elections. The federal form only requires signing an 'oath' of citizenship.

 

The committee to update the federal form has been inactive for years so effectively the Arizona law was nullified - for Federal office elections. Theoretically Arizona could still require the citizenship proof for state and local office elections.
