Raceland/Worthington High School will unveil the initial class of the Raceland Football Hall of Fame this August. This imo is long overdue and has been talked about for years. The first class will be presented on the "Ram Reunion" day on Aug. 24th this year. A huge congrats to the ones named to the initial class. Three players will be added each year after this initial class.

 

The inaugural members (with senior year): Carl “Punk” Adkins (1934); Eddie Colvin (1941); Glennard French (1946); Ronnie Potter (1949); Ronnie Cox (1949); Clyde “Jigsaw” Adams (1949); Fred Brumfield (1950); Gaylord Thompson (1950); Tom Sammons (1951); Virgil “Buckshot” Adkins (1954); Paul Rose (1957); Scott Davidson (1959); Ray McCulley (1966); Joe Nicely (1968); Randy Heaberlin (1973); Terry Howell (1976); Mike Mills (1976); James Boggs (1989); Scott Speaks (1989); Mike Salmons (1990); Aaron Pettrey (2003); Robby Logan (2009); and Coach Bill Tom Ross (1983-1996).

This has been talked about for as long as I remember. The committee has been meeting for a full year and the selection was a long process. Great thing for Raceland Football.

The induction will take place on a Saturday, you should come in for the event. The Ram Reunion will take place in the afternoon with all inductees recognized. Then, they will all be honored again prior to start of the game. It will be a nice day at Ram Stadium.

Didn't know that.....Oh well, he obviously finally saw the light and was saved from a lower level of life and is now a Ram! (Once a Ram, Always a Ram)

How does Michael Hunt not make that list? Coach Bill Tom Ross once told me he was the best player he ever coached.

I agree LRCW. If I understand correctly, three former players year are to be named every year so I would hope that he will be included in the future. Michael lost his Senior season due to a very severe/carrer ending knee injury in a pre season scrimmage against Ashland. I honestly believe that Raceland would have won the State A championship that season had they had Hunt. I believe that B.T. Ross said that it was six positions that had to be switched around on defense due to Michael being out. He was that valuable (LB) on defense as well as offense and at RB on the offense he probably would had been considered the best RB to ever play at Raceland. Terry Howell (76') is probably considered the best now. jmo.

He will be there soon. I feel confident in that. As oldrambler said I think him losing his senior year probably kept him off the first ballot. Mike was definitely on the short list of most talented athletes to play at Raceland. .
