Caldwell County 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Caldwell County? Remember, please be constructive.

Caldwell should win the Class A in the 2nd Region. Eli Pepper is a name most have not heard but should get familiar with. He's a 6'8 rising junior who has been impressive on the spring AAU circuit with the Illinois Bears. He is getting interest from Murray, Toledo, Rice, and Southern Illinois among others. He has received elite camp invites from all 4 of those schools.

Their biggest question mark is guard play. They'll have a big front court and all kinds of athletes (football school).

Coach Kukahiko enters his 2nd year with Caldwell and should expect improvement over an average first year.

Thanks for the info, hope to hear more of him during the season.

From what I have been hearing, the Tigers should be getting a HUGE shot in the arm with Elijah Sindelar returning to the team, after taking a season off this year. That should solve the guard problem.

Admittedly, I've never seen the kid play but I have heard a lot about him. What position does he play?

Eli has a lot of potential. If he can learn to stay on his feet and play defense instead of trying to block shots, he could be a force in the 2nd Region.

AND, he's my wife's cousin! :D

Sindelar played Guard, and scored around 21 a game as a freshman.

When I saw Sindelar play a couple of years ago he was more of a small/power forward. He could really shoot it though. I was really impressed with Dee Cain's potential last year at guard. If Sindelar does come back they will be really good.

Why wouldn't he come back?

Sindelar didn't play last year. He is a pretty big time football and baseball player. If he does come back he is really good. Would change their season significantly.

Thanks for the info. Hope you will keep us updated on that end of the state.

Saw them a couple time this summer and Sindelar was not with them. Heard he has gotten a football offer so that may keep him out of the gym. Pepper kid did play well and can see them having a shot at the 7th district title.

Keep us updated if he plays b-ball this season.

Sindelar has been playing on a traveling baseball team and going to football camps. However, word continues to be that he will play basketball this year.

Things could change I guess, but I'm expecting him to suit up for coach Kukahiko this winter.

The Tigers are hosting an Alumni Game November 25th. Other than that, the Tiger faithful will have to be very patient with their team early on, as most of the varsity Tigers are also football players on the #1 ranked Class 2A football team.
