Ryle 13 Cooper 2

Featured Replies

Fuss should have been catching tonight and Burt should have caught tomorrow if they are going to be doing what they are doing. JMO!!!

Starting pitching was great for both teams. Dunn pitched 5 and 2/3 and had 1 earned run at the most if he had any. Relief pitching came in the 6th and the flood gates opened. 8 runs scored in 6th and the rest in 7th.

Jags couldnt get the bats going, Hoard pitched a great game. Both teams were struggling at the plate against starting pitchers. I believe it was 2-0 through most of the game with only 3 hits by Ryle and 2 hits by Cooper through 4 or 5 innings.

Cooper is getting runners in scoring position but can't seem to drive them in. Been plagued by that lately.

Hopefully they get the sticks working tomorrow against Boone.

I will say this....Biegs did the right thing getting Dunn out of the game as things just seemed to go to "Hell in a hand basket".

Don't think Fuss will be catching tonight either. As far as I know he's never been talked to by Biegs why he isn't catching anymore but several players have told him that when he was out sick 2 weeks ago the coach said at practice he isn't the catcher anymore. Coach has been asked to speak with Fuss about what has happened but has yet to speak to him. It all started a game against Campbell Co. when he was playing sick and had a stolen base and when he was half way to 2nd thought the he heard the ump and a teammate yell "Foul" so he let up when it wasn't a foul ball and then saw the throw coming and then started running again, although he was still safe at 2nd the coach pulled him at that moment "for not hustling" and he hasn't been the starting catcher ever since. He spent the next 4 days in bed sick as a dog and because of that he is no longer the starting catcher.

He has taken it like a champ and hasn't complained once about it. He still goes out there and gives 110% and is ready to do whatever the coach asks, as he has replaced the other catcher in the past 2 games due to too many passed balls etc. The moral of the story is, even though you want to help the team all you can, don't play if you are sick because you may not be at your best and lose your position on this team.

So....First and Second, passed ball, on a waist high fastball, runners 2nd and 3rd. Next pitch WP run is considered an ER?

As TOG stated you have to re-create the inning had the PB not occurred.

You also didn't mention how the runners got on but let's assume they got on via hits/walks.

PB occurs and runners move up.

Batter hits a HR.

Doesn't matter now. They would have scored had they NOT moved up so all of the runs are earned.

You need to tell us what happened prior to and after a particular play in order to determine if runs were earned or unearned.

I believe one of the runners got on base on a PB on 3rd strike, can't remember how the other did, I may be totally wrong because I was too busy running the sound at Florence Freedom during the game.....that's a blast I might add :ylsuper:

I dont' remember exactly how they got on, but this was the situation.

2 out, runner's on 1b and 2b. Pitching to batter and passed ball occurs and runners move to 2b and 3b. Next pitch to same batter WP runner from 3b scores and runner from 2b goes to 3b. Same batter, 1 or 2 pitches later and the batter K's, out number 3.

There is no doubt Fuss is an asset to the team and a big reason for some of Cooper's wins. He studies hitters well and calls the game to their weakness not the count that everyone in the stands could guess. He develops a relationship with the umps easily which gives him calls other catchers don't get. Plus he has a badly needed bat in the lineup. Some coaches pick a whipping boy, sounds like he is it. Lets hope it's not the case, With the pieces put together Cooper can knock off anyone in districts.

TOG - it's "tweets" - not "twits." That me chuckle.

TOG....the "twits" are usually what are between the ground and the keyboard......if you know what I mean.

7-0 for Ryle's Justin Hoard this season! Impressive, to say the least. Has pitched very well all season long.

2 unearned runs.
