April 3, 201313 yr With all the Yankee greats it would be very hard to pick a top 5. Having said that, with what he has meant to the Yankees on and off the field, D. Jeter is the Ambassador for the Yankees and all of MLB . Jeter's career excellence, long time team captain, number of WS rings, etc. then I would say yes, D. Jeter is a Top 5 Yankee. With all the Yankee greats and legacy one could argue Top 5 Yankees all day and would have a good argument regardless of which one of the many greats you put on or left out. Don't forget that Yogi Berra, was, and still is, a great ambassador for the Yankees as well as MLB. Also, he won 10 World Series rings to Jeter's 5. He also has 3 MVP Awards to Jeter's none. As a matter of fact, he is one of only 4 players to have won the AL MVP Award 3 times. I know that hardly any of us actually saw Berra play and that makes it easy to overlook his accomplishments but he has some excellent numbers. He had more homeruns than strikeouts 5 times in his career and ended up with 358 homers and only 414 strikeouts. All this while playing catcher back in the days when you took buses on road trips. With the 3 MVPs and 10 WS Championships I think Berra has to be in the top 5.
