Ugly day in Hebron for the Cougars. Austin Price got the start and the loss for Conner.

Did you happen to see that HHS beat Elder and Ryle beat Hamilton Badin both pretty good GCL baseball teams today, Guru!

I did see the Highlands over Elder score and that is very impressive. Badin is not considered a big school. And for the record, CCH normally is our best representative when crossing the pond.

While I agree that Badin isn't a big school, Hamilton Badin year in and year out indeed plays big school baseball and are a tough team even for the big boys of the GCL year in and year out as the below shows you.

I'd argue the score was not quite as indicative as the talent level between the two teams. Conner just had a bad day, plain and simple. Lasalle scores 3 runs in the 1st without a hit and it snowballed from there. Mix in a few errors, Fogle coming out of the game in the 2nd inning with a hamstring issue, and a Maines benching (for discipline measures) for a second consecutive game and you have a recipie for a bad day.

Hope the Fogle injury isn't serious and he's back out there next game.

The city of Hamilton breathes baseball, lot of talent to go around.

So your position is the talent was pretty similar but all the breaks went LaSalle's way?

LaSalle isnt in Hamilton but they are in a big baseball area.

Yes, the talent was comparable. I'm hesitant to say the breaks went Lasalle's way, as you usually make your own luck and breaks. For whatever reason, Conner appeared disinterested yesterday, and to Lasalle's credit they took advantage of every opportunity and mistake that Conner gave them. It was also Lasalle's first game. If anyone played sloppy/rusty you would have expected it from them, not Conner as they were playing their 5th game. As I said before, I'm chalking this one up to one of those bad days for Conner. If the items I mentioned here and in other posts continue to resurface then maybe we can debate talent levels and other issues they may have, but I'm not ready to go there quite yet.

Thanks for the additional. Time will certainly tell.

There's an elephant in the room, it is hard to get momentum or team chemistry when players disrespect the game, their school and Northern Kentucky as a whole. A Coach's first and foremost responsilbility is to have the team represent the school and build quality young men. The damage is done in the eyes of Lasalle and the other parents on Conner's team.

Exactly what happened guys?

Sorry. Should have clarified was referring to Badin quote.

Let's just say Mr. Maines likes to express himself-verbally-when things do not go his way. It happened vs both Beechwood and Lasalle and resulted in a benching both games from Coach Arlo.
