Luke Maile has been assigned to..

Luke Maile former 3 time POY of the Ninth Region, Kentucky Mr. Baseball and former UK starter, has been assigned to the Tampa Bay, Bowling Green, Ky Hot Rods team web site!

The new 2013 roster is not yet posted but Luke indeed will be playing in BG.

My guess is that more than a few of us from CovCath and NKy will be traveling down to BG to see him play this season.

Save some gas money and head to Dayton. They have a weekend series in April (19/20/21) and you can go on the 4th and 5th of July as well.

Yes I saw that and believe it or not, the Dragons are about sold out for both the 4th and 5th of July already!

Bowling Green, KY - In conjunction with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Bowling Green Hot Rods announce the initial roster for 2013, the fifth season of Hot Rods baseball. The first crop of players to appear in a Hot Rods uniform this season features seven of Baseball America's "Top 30 Rays Prospects" and Luke Maile, the first-ever Kentucky-native to play for the Hot Rods.

The Hot Rods once again feature some of the best talent in the Rays Minor League system. Pitchers Taylor Guerrieri (#3), Blake Snell (#9), Jeff Ames (#13), and Nick Sawyer (#30), as well as 3B Tyler Goeddel (#16), OF Andrew Toles (#19), and 3B/1B Patrick Leonard (#26) are considered by Baseball America as "Top 30 Rays Prospects."

For the first time in team history, the Hot Rods will have a Kentucky native on the team's roster. Edgewood's Luke Maile will make his full-season debut with the Hot Rods in 2013 after being selected by the Rays in the eighth round of last June's draft. After winning Kentucky's "Mr. Baseball" in 2009 while at Covington Catholic, the catcher/first baseman excelled at the University of Kentucky for three seasons.

Luke went 1-5 in his first game last night. My wife's family lives in Ft Wayne and I see Bowling Green is in the same division so I may try to see him later this summer.

I've been to Ft Wayne's ballpark. You'll enjoy it.

Luke has thrown out 3 of 4 base stealers. Hitting .269.

Maile Blasts Hot Rods to Series Sweep

Kentucky native has four RBI's in sweep-clinching win over

Its great to see him moving on

I saw his batting average was sliding down but from what I understand, he has been hitting it on the "screws" but right at people so it was only a matter of time before they started to fall. Very happy for a nice young man.

Luke also had two doubles.

If I remember correctly he started off slowly last year in rookie ball from a avg standpoint before ending the year at about .275 .

His power will come.

Luke went 2/5 last night. He is 7 for his last 12.

Hitting .400 in his last 10 games.
