Wilkerson did not pick up a foul until early in the fourth quarter. He did have 4 or 5 dunks and alot of his points were on stick backs. He is talented, has a nice soft touch on his shot and leaps extremely well. Although blocked out on many occassions he got a lot of rebounds by just going straight up and out jumping the defender blocking him out. He has very long arms as well.

Highlands played them tough but came up short in the end.

Lafayette is much more effective when they push the ball inside or push the ball up the floor before the defense can get back. They are pretty quick as a team.

Sounds like you were at the game...... I don't see HHS losing in the 9th region this year , especially since they have Holmes on their home floor.

From what I have heard Wilkerson and Kiernan are not exactly at the same level when it comes to ability. I've seen neither one play just passing along an opinion from some one that had. The fact that there is no dominant "big man in the 9th region is a blessing for Highlands. I also think they can win the region, and once you get to Lexington anything can happen.

I would probably agree with you on that but as far as a huge space eater... they will not see that up here again. When you have an athletic 6'8 kid who can jump out of the gym... it is tough to get bounds....It was nice to see Vories get his 29.... just more proof that he is the best player in the 9th Region this year.... I'm tellin ya... he rises to the occasion and will do so in the next few tough games on their schedule.

Vories is not the best player in the 9th region. He is definitely top 5 and the top 5 on any given night are interchangeable. So on some nights he may be the best... others he may be number 5. But he is definitely not consistantly the best player in the 9th.

ok, well what do you mean by consistently? pt avg. assist avg, defense night in and night out..... You cant have them all and IMO Vories does all of these things very well. Leading scorer many times, gets to rim at will, breaks knees off dribble, plays tough man-man defense, runs the break very well (leaves others in dust), passes like his old man used to(check 1979 regional champs) and shoots over 50% and FT's are over 73%. I don't know... they might be 15-2 also...... hmmmmmmm

I will have to pass that funny comment along to him. He did recently tell me when we were talking about the importance of Free Throws that he would typically get many of his pts off free throws in the 4th quarter..... guess you cant do that by getting rid of the ball. But didnt he have all of those assists to Sully on the Wing and alley oops to Muntis????

I thought the Birds played very well . They started off hotter than a firecracker but soon cooled off and Lafayette got right back into it. I have only seen him play once but "Wilt"erson is the real deal . He has a wing span that is as wide as a Comair Jet. I don't know how consistant he has been playing this year but he had the complete package on friday. The kids said he is a very polite kid on the court ....for whatever that is worth.

I know there are several good players in NKy this year but IMO Jeffrey Vories is a solid top 5 player. And about his father Mike ,he still doesn't even pass in the church leagues :p:p:p

I am sure he will take Top 5 and part of a Regional Championship team..... Since most of the team is Seniors... it would be nice. Holmes is tough but I expect them to roll next year with all of those guys being Seniors in 2007. Funny comment on the Church League......he said he plays in one and invites me to play..... I guess if I ever do play just make sure I am on the opposite team. :p

Speaking of passing, Sully sure could shoot the rock but probably still can't spell the word PASS. He would have to admit to that unless old age has cost him his memory.
