February 21, 201313 yr Missed where the article said McConnell returned a million dollars last year. That means in the last 3 years he's returned $2 million which is nice. Wouldn't it be great if the entire federal government followed suit?
February 21, 201313 yr I wonder what causes the differences in budgets among the senators. Just guessing, but it seems like the number of committees they are on would figure into it. The population of the state seems to correlate with bigger budgets (Texas and California both eclipse $9m) as well.

February 21, 201313 yr While Obama has many faults, to say that he's anywhere near as dogmatic as Rand Paul is a bit much. Are we talking rhetoric or action? Obama will often give a speech that does not seem to be dogmatic but then he follows it up with extremely dogmatic action. For example, Obama's environmental policy is nothing if not dogmatic. Another example is Obama's repeated rhetoric for a "balanced approach" to deficit reduction but his utter refusal to support meaningful spending cuts. In comparing Obama with Paul, there is a consistency between Paul's words and actions that is not present in Obama. If you want to call Paul more dogmatic because doesn't attempt to fool people to the degree that Obama does, so be it. Edited February 21, 201313 yr by shooter spelling
