New lights in PIkeville

Featured Replies

I am sure that 95% of the schools in the state would love to have a playing surface and overall facilities of those at Pikeville. So don't get so upset if it takes a little longer than expected to get the lights, you guys have always had top notch facilites. Be thankful, not upset.

WE ARE NOT UPSET AT THE FACILITY. JUST THE TIMING THAT BASEBALL ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE THE STEPCHILD WHO GETS LEFT OUT.

Hey Buck, don't you think it's strange that the light problem was detected AFTER football??

IT IS AMAZING THE TIMING OF ALL OF THIS. I GUESS SOMEONE CHECKED AFTER FOOTBALL SEASON AND THEY DIDNT MEET STANDARDS, HA, HA. I HOPE WE ONLY MISS A MONTH BECAUSE A SEASON WILL KILL US FINANCIALLY.

I know the all a is scheduled for there. What will they do with that?

My guess would be Painstville. They always seem to be a thorn in the side.

What a terrible place to have a tournament.......any tournament.

Easy...Painstville isn't that bad...Sure it could use some work, but I could imagine some worse places to play.

Lets just hope this installation doesn't cost the Panthers ANOTHER season!

It is one of the worst places to play.....I can't think of any place they would consider holding the tournament that would be worst. Maybe Phelps.....but like i say, they wouldnt' consider that. I rank Paintsville's field behind: Pikeville, JC, Pike Central, Shelby Valley, Lawrence Co, Belfry. It is about the same as Allen Park. Just above P-burg and Allen Central. It is horrible Fan. Runners don't even have enough room to make a turn at first, catcher doesn't even have to block the ball, the left field fence is a joke, the mound is flat, the infield grass is half dead, ect...

That a boy MTN tell it like it is. If you go by KHSAA standards they are deficient in several areas. Your ranking looks about right except Lawrence has really improved their facilities. It is right with Pikeville and Johnson Central and much better than the others except for seating.

I wasn't necessarily putting them in order. Lawrence may in fact be the best....though i still love PIkeville facilities. Paintsville's field is miserable.

I loved Paintsville's field...its a nice field to hit on. Football will always be king at Pikeville even though the baseball team has had more success since Lawson took over. Not saying I agree with it but that is the way it is.

That is your opinion, but if Pikeville's field is not ready ready for the All "A", then what school would you pick to host the tournament considering that Pikeville is the only class A school in the 15th that has a really nice field.

I agree, If you played in Floyd Co. lights would be the least of your problems.AC and BL share Allen Park. Prestonsburg plays in flood water and SF is lucky they a place to play. This is one of the reasons Floyd Co.teams seldom compete on the same level as the rest of the region.

Shelby Valley.......not kept up the way it should be, but a pretty decent field. Light years ahead of Paintsville's.

Valley has a decent field, but I would not say it is "light years" ahead of Paintsville. The only difference is that Paintsville's field does not allow the cheap runs on passed balls, however its short fence should balance this out.

That is another joke on Paintsville's field. You can have a joker back there catching and it may not hurt you too bad becaue he doesn't have to block any pitches.
