Herald Leader 14th Region Rankings

Featured Replies

I really Feel like right now that there are 11 teams in the 14th that can win it on any given night. Perry, Lee, Hazard, Leslie, Wolfe, Estill, June Buchanan, Jackson City, Buckhorn,Letcher Central, and Knott Central. With a few teams such as Cordia and Owsley County that on any given night can beat anyone. I really believe who wins this reigon will soely be based on who they are matched up with. Here is a thought for you to think about, tell me one easy game that there will be in this years reigonal tournament. All 8 teams in this years reigonal tournament will be evenly matched.

Guys, I've observed 14th region basketball for a long time.

Lee County is the best team in the region at the present time. I realize they lost at Letcher, Perry, and Knott....but at the present time, they are the best team in the region imo. Their DEFENSE is waht makes the difference, and they are improving and gaining confidence every game they play. Their point guard, Kenny Brandenburg, has turned into a complete floor leader. In the past he seemed to worry too much about 3 pointers, but now he is more concerned about involving all his teammates

Lee County doesn't really have anyone who stands out, but they don't need to. They have a balance team of very good players....with a lot of 6'2-6'3 kids. I think they are the team to beat in the region when march rolls around....assuming they continue to play like they did this past weekend. They are a good defensive team, and that wins a lot of tournaments, even if the shots aren't falling.

I would put Leslie's D against anyone elses they aren't clicking well on offense yet.

I actually picked Leslie at the beginning of the season. I have been confused by their lackluster play of late. You cant lose to some of the teams they have lost too of late and win the region. The thing about Leslie is they play in a tough district where they have to play good just to get out. They could very easily have the best team in the region but it depends on which team shows up.

I really dont belive anyone has the mentality needed to beat PCC come tourney time.

Nothing against Perry but there are probably 10 teams that could beat them in the tourney. Remember that Perry plays in a tough district this year and will have to win a big game to make it to the region. This is the most balanced that I have ever seen that district.

Before this year you could say this & people would agree, but this year..

None of these 6 teams will be capable of beating Perry come tournament time!

They barely pulled out a lot of games this year. Lee should have won. I think Buckorn went down to the wire too. So I see that nearly every team in the region has a shot against PCC.

Everybody knows after all the losses Leslie has had & the teams they have had them too, it's still theres to lose.

As long as PCC is defending regional champions it is theirs to loose!! :fire:

Two key words in this post BARELY and NEARLY. :fire:

All this shows is that PCC can and will win the close ones.
