Excellent point Firebird and the guys you mentioned will all be players in MLB someday as Kearns is already their. The state is all basketball and football..........lets not forget the other non revenue sport.

I think that you may have touched on the primary cause of why baseball is not promoted to our young athletes to the extent as the other two major sporting attractions in Kentucky are. I'll point a finger directly at the KHSAA as being the major culprit in not promoting most kids most realistic chance in playing college or professional sports. Seems as if any legislation that comes up that would enhance the promotion of baseball gets shot down by our high school governing body.

 

The last few words of your statement I think explains where the primary concern lies. The single word REVENUE speaks very loudly.

Why in your opinion STRIKE3 do you feel that it happens so much on a continual basis. Do you feel that the media glamorizes the sport to an extent that kids feel compelled to neglect the most realistic options they have, or do you think there are other reasons?

 

I have a few opinions of my own to add to this question, but I'll ask for others to throw their 2 cents worth in before I offer my thoughts.

A lot has to do with Basketball becoming a 10 month program and the ultimate dream of playing in Rupp.

 

Standing behind the arc, sinking a 3...had led many 5'-10"to 6'-0" young men, to believe they could be basketball superstars and thus perhaps someday, jump and actually touch the rim... :thumb:
