Corbin vs. South Laurel (Round 2)

Kirk will do fine, the only one that would concern me would be the "King", and I'm not sure he is still officiating. To be honest, I dont even think that the Corbin faithful would want him on the floor either.

I don't know of a Corbin fan who wants to see him call a game, and so far this year I have not seen him.

I've always dreaded playing Corbin when Kirk is in the house....... just as I know that Corbin dreads playing Clay when Kirk is in the house...... maybe it's just everyone dreads playing anyone when Kirk is officiating. :D

I believe that hoops22 was referring to someone else. I have seen Kirk do a couple of Corbin games this year at home, I had no problem with the officiating even though I think that the Hounds lost both games.

I know he was referring to someone different! I'm just curious if hes willing to give us a name! :D

Will Corbin have anything "new" to show South Laurel tonight or will they save it in case they meet in the district or regional tournament?

I think the real question is does it matter? I dont think it really matters at this point.

It probably does not matter as far as the outcome of the game, but it could help down the road.

I was meaning that it wouldnt matter in tonights game or down the road if they met SL again! :D

It won't matter against South Laurel this year, but it will be good to see anyway.

I'm going to have to talk to a member of your family tonight (if he makes it down to Corbin for about the 5th time this year)and tell him about you giving the Redhound fans a hard way to go. ;)

Some of you are not old enough to recall this happening, but in the late 80's or early 90's I saw Knox Central beat Barbourville by 50 points in the regular season only to see the Tigers bounce back and defeat a very talented Central team in the 50th district......I am not predicting a Corbin win, but sometimes when you are depending on 15 to 19 year old kids strange things happen. South is great, but their greatness does not keep all their opponents from wanting to beat them or at least believing that they can......

South by 20+. Officiating will play a big role in this game.

I recall that game. Did the legend of Dinky as a great tournament coach begin then?

Your right in the fact that the players have to believe they can win, or it won't happen. The Redhound players that I have talked to believe that they can win, so at least that part of the battle is won. The bad news is that this South Laurel bunch does not strike me as the type that goes around reading their press clippings and believing that they are all that, so they go out every night and do the things that got them the accolades to begin with.

You are exactly right. I know several of the SL players personally and this is the most mature and level headed bunch of high schoolers I have ever seen on one team. Very focused and very smart.
