Folks, it's the finest pistol I've ever fired. I own or have owned Rugers, Smiths, Kahrs, Bersa, Colt, Taurus, Springfield, Glock, and now, Kimber. I've owned them in everything from .22 to .460. This pistol performs better than any I've ever owned with only one little quirk, and that is the spent casings fly right over my right shoulder and filled the hood of my Carhartt jacket. It's smooth, and perhaps the most accurate pistol I've ever fired. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Just sayin'.

I own one as well and I echo your statement...

I will add that one thing that ticks me off is that considering what I paid for it, it comes with only one magazine and that's the one in the gun. No extras. Glock came with 3. That kinda bugs me, but considering it's performance, I sucked it up and paid the 22 bucks for another. Again, outstanding pistol.

Got the Pro Carry II. I couldn't tell much difference when I held them all. I essentially have a Crimson Carry now since I just put the Rosewood Crimson Trace grips on it.

I actually got to talk to the Kimber rep earlier in the year (2012). Discussed the night sights and all of that jazz. He told me that if I wanted to add sights I could, but it had to be done at their custom shop. He said that their margin for error is so slim and their tolerances are so tight that they couldn't allow anyone else to do it. If you have a problem with your Kimber, they won't even look at it until you fire a minimum of 500 rds thru it. It is very tight, yet smooth if that makes sense. I've only fired 150rds thru mine and it is still very tight. The rep and some others I know that own one said that it may sound silly, but the gun will "loosen" up slightly without losing it's smooth operation right at 500 rds.

 

I know they're not cheap, but woods, if you are in the market for a .45, I highly recommend it.

Never shot a Kimber but did get to shoot a Wilson Combat Special a couple of months ago, and like the Kimber you get what you pay for. These guns along with Les Baer are a step above the rest.

I watched a show on the Wilson Combat arms. And they are uniquely and painstakingly made. They make their own ammo and the whole shebang. I'd like to shoot one to compare it to the Kimber. Pricey but seem very nice.

I was at the range with my wife, son and daughter and a man and his son were at the next table. They had 3 Wilson 1911's. I got to talking to them that morning and asked what they were shooting and embarrassingly I'll admit I had never heard of Wilson (Too much $$$ for me). Well these guys had never shot an AR, I arranged for them to shoot my son's AR and a little while later the dad walked over and handed me his Wilson...all I can say is that is was like butter it was so smooth. I told him that I was embarrassed to shoot it after watching him and his son shoot. He told me not to worry about it, that that gun makes up for a lot of short comings behind the trigger. Probably the best group on a full clip that I have ever shot, I wanted to throw my Glock up in the woods after shooting it. The one he let me shoot was a factory customized model and he said he had about $5300 in it.

Dang, I bet it was nice. That may be my next indulgence. I absolutely love the .45 caliber. I'm bad for selling when I get bored. I may shop a couple to offset the price tag. I'm just glad my wife doesn't keep track of my gun receipts. Kinda like I don't keep up with her shoe receipts.

Yeah I have an internal laser on my Glock that I have kept the box hidden for years from my wife. Never wanted her to look up how much I paid for it. Of course I've had it for over 10 years current prices wouldn't get me in too much trouble, but original price that would be a different story.

I own four Colt revolvers, a Ruger revolver, a Colt 1911, a Walther ppks, a Glock 17, 19, and 27, and my Kimber Pro Tactical II 1911. If I had to choose a pistol to have on me during a firefight, it would without a doubt be the Kimber.

did you get the pro crimson carry II or just the pro carry and then put the crimson tracer grips on it?
