I have no idea if that is true, but I can find out. Next time I see him I will ask.

Of course, if the webcasts go like tonight's CCH game you aren't missing much. Video didn't work very much. Didn't come on until late 2nd quarter. Went off for a bit 2 minutes into the 3rd. Went back out in the 4th qtr.

 

I can only take that Army ad for about the first 30 times.

Have heard the same thing. We had the Bulldogs scheduled for a game at home, but will now have to wait to either get them on the road or not at all.

Steidl told me directly "we wouldn't be interested" when I told him we were wanting to broadcast the Holy Cross and Cooper games live.

 

Didn't ask any other questions and just left it at that.

 

Not sure what the reason is. Every coach I've talked to appreciates the free coverage and exposure it gives their team. Dale is the same way when it comes to live video feeds of football games.

 

And just so everyone is clear... Booher is a big fan of the coverage and exposure so I know it has nothing to do with him. This is all on the AD. Great guy but not sure why he won't allow video feeds.

Lets face it, it's an economic issue!

 

Video broadcasted games put less butts in the stands, which in turn, means less $$$ for the schools. It's indeed a whole lot more convenient to sit at home and not worry about parking, paying admission, comfort and time to watch it on my computer monitor, than attending the game live!

 

Now I wonder (as I sometimes do) how much do the commercial Internet sites that have ads in their game video or web sites, have offered to pay Holmes/any HS, for the right to video broadcast their games?

 

I mean do the sites that are revenue driven, meaning they are for profit businesses, pay the schools for the right to broadcast?

 

My guess if a few hundred $$$ came the way of the schools, they just might allow video broadcast! :idunno:

I can almost guarantee none of the schools are receiving compensation for the FREE broadcasts. Coach Key and Coach Sullivan both told me last night that they appreciate what we do and that the coverage and exposure of their teams/tournament is something they hope we continue to do in the future.

 

Not everyone is all about $$$.

 

While nkysports does have sponsors, we don't charge fans a dime to watch any of our broadcasts. We aren't making money off of the games we do, but rather advertising. Ben Bleser would know about the specifics a lot better than myself but it is mind boggling to me that the AD doesn't want free coverage of his school/team. Realistically, how many people even know about the broadcast before going to the games and hearing that they are being broadcast live by (enter name here)??

I'm not sure how much, but I do know that a lot of the money we get from advertising goes toward newer and better equipment and software so we can provide a better quality product for the fans who choose to watch our broadcasts at home.;

We are the same way. We hear all the time from other Athletic Directors and Coaches that they love what we do and want it to continue. I know the All "A" was looking at IHigh.com to broadcast in Frankfort this year, but that decision has since been changed.

 

The 9th Region Tournament has also been that way since it has moved to the Bank of Kentucky Center. Is it a $$$ thing?? Don't know.

 

In other regions we have experienced it as a scouting issue. We have on occassion, when asked, not put up video until the tournament winner was out of the state tournament. We're happy to do that just so we can capture the game for our archives.

 

Stan would have to answer how Holmes is different. I know when Ron Madrick was AD, there was no issue at all for any sport. We have done Holmes football in the past at Holmes. Not sure why Basketball is different.
