The Madison Central Indians came up a little short against the National #2 ranked Tigers with UK signees Aaron and Andrew Harrison. Great game !

BENTON, Ky. – UK commits Andrew Harrison and Aaron Harrison secured victory at hoopfest for their Travis, Texas high school Saturday with a 64-57 win over in-state Maidson Central.

For the second night in a row, the stands at Marshall County high school were decked by fans wearing the blue and white of UK.

Just as in Friday’s game against Louisville Ballard, the twins recieved a loud roar from Cats fans when announced during the pre-game ceremonies.

Unlike the previous evening however, it was not quite the same double-team effort during the first half as Aaron Harrison found himself on the bench early with three fouls.

Andrew Harrison took charge of the game in his brother’s absence, bringing the ball up the court before driving the lane where he would either cut to the rim or dish to an open team mate.

Madison Central kept up with their higher ranked opponent, with Dominique Hawkins leading the way with a game high 29 points, along with six rebounds in a losing effort. Only two of his teammates joined him in scoring double figures.

After the halftime break Aaron Harrison returned to the floor and picked up where he left off with his physical play, however he went one from four from the field as part of a three point, four rebound game.

John Burnett and Juwan Williams stepped up in Aaron Harrison’s absence, contributing for 15 and 10 points respectivly.

They would miss out on the game MVP award however, which went to to Andrew Harrison.

Receiving a standing ovation as he made his way to the Travis bench after his fifth foul, Andrew Harrison was selected for the award after playing hard and strong all night, earning himself a double-double in the process.

Andrew Harrison ended the game with 25 points, 12 rebounds five assists.

Another solid effort by a HS team. Way to go.

I was there and have a few thoughts (I'll have a complete article about the Hoopfest tomorrow):

 

- Travis is a really good team, but they aren't a top 10 team in America.

- Madison Central is really good. I would say that Madison Central and Ballard are the best two KY teams I've watched this season.

- The Harrison twins would start at UK this season

- Oak Hill Academy is the best team in the nation from top to bottom.

Question for those who were there: What kind of reception did Wiggins get? Guessing it was similar to the above.

They announced first 9 players int he starting lineups and I'm not sure anyone even clapped. Then, they announced Wiggins and there was a standing ovation.

That's a nice move, but don't leave out the stat that Dominique had 29 points and the Harrison twins combined for 28 !

Also one of the Harrison Twins sat out alot of the game in foul trouble. Also one is the shooting guard. Other one is known not to be the scorer.
