We will leave the BGHA out of it. He's probably on the Girls' basketball site gloating about the Lady Stangs big win over Lloyd tonight - lol!!!

 

I attended the freshmen game at Augusta tonight and there is a very fundamental reason that Augusta won tonight - THEY WERE THE BIGGER, BETTER, STRONGER, MORE MATURE TEAM which played together quite well!!! Augusta's freshmen have been playing together for a few years now, and last year amassed a 19-2 record with their only losses coming to Mason County.

 

Three players - Cam Snapp (21), Connor Maddox (12) and #31, whose name I can't make out from my copy (8) combined for 41 of their team's 45 points. They are all three nice basketball players.

None of our Mustangs scored in double figures. We first met each other this past October 29th, and haven't quite grasped the concept of team defense as yet. With that being said this is a NICE Brossart Freshmen team, not overpowering - overwhelming, but NICE, and good enough to beat St. Henry, who isn't chopped liver 28-16 on Wednesday night in Erlanger.

 

These are high times right now in A-Town and Jason Hinson is king of the world. They have a more-than-competitive varsity team (2-0) with a blue-chip junior in Bach, and their girls team is 2-0 after a victory tonight over Deming.

 

As usual, it was great playing in the throw-back facilities of Augusta High School, and seeing so many old friends and colleagues. I didn't partake in the highly touted concession stand fare - didn't know it was open because it wasn't located on the stage as in the past, but will get another whack at it later on in the season when the Mustangs varsity comes to call. Had a chance to send a shout out to Coach Robin Kelsch who called in during the freshmen game, and received a positive report.

 

Congratulations to the Freshmen Panthers, deserving winners tonight - hope to see you again in the 10th Region Freshmen tournament.

Looking forward to watching this team the next 4 years!

BC freshman team beat Augusta's 8th grade team last year! The 8th graders were 19-2 with the only loses coming to Mason County. Just wanted to set the record straight.
