Garrard County 14 Madison Southern 13

Featured Replies

Just about as happy as I've been after a Garrard County victory in a long time. Golden Lions played great defensively (as they have all season), holding Madison Southern's offense to 13 points and not too many yards. Southern sophomore Damien Harris did score from 6 yards out in the second quarter, but I'd be willing to bet he was held to under 100 yards on the night. Garrard's offense continued their methodical, time-consuming drives that they have had success with all season, leading to touchdown runs from freshman Jaylan McPherson and quarterback Billy Abney.

Also, with the win, Garrard improves to 13-0 all time against Madison Southern.

Great win for Garrard as it seems they are once again starting to find their groove at the perfect time!

Good win Garrard County, I did think we would win this game, but I will say I thought the score would be higher than it was for both teams. Coach Scenters had a very nice game plan and I thought his kids did a great job executing the game plan. I'm sure Mark was thrilled to beat Southern not just because that is where he went to school, but because he also applied for the Southern job a few years back as well. I thought Southern played well on defense, but Garrard's D-line was to much for Southern's O-line and to me that was the difference in the game. On to the playoffs where we have Perry Central at home.

I think you are right on the part about line play. Garrard wasn't bigger than Southern on the line, but they did seem to win the line of scrimmage all night. Numerous Southern plays were busted up early by Garrard defenders in the backfield.

Big Ballin, I think you will agree with me that this was a terrific high school football game. Both teams are very solid and played very well, with tons of intensity. It really felt like a playoff game out there tonight.
