Central had no turnovers. They attempted to punt once and faked it...Larue stopped them short of the 1st down.

 

The rest of the game outside of their two scores, Larue made them turnover on downs.

 

Larue rushed for 200 yds. Led by the fullback who had 125 on 21 carries.

 

Central's scores came on:

- 3rd and 6 on the first series for 75 yds.

 

And

 

- fumble recovery in the endzone on 3rd and goal from the 5.

 

Total yardage I think was 300 for Central, 200 for Larue.

 

Larue's losses (4-5 right now) have come to:

-5A Dist Champ Shelby County

-4A Dist Champ Warren East

-3A Central..enough said.

-2A Green Co..dist runner up. Always tough

-4A Nelson Co...leads state in passing. All classes.

Central's schedule sure didn't make them look like world beaters against little old Larue County last Friday did it? Central sure didn't crush Larue County did they? I don't understand what flipping schedules justifies. All I am saying is that Larue is better than people think and that maybe they deserve a little more credit for playing Central the way they did. Keep overlooking Larue though. Don't give them any credit. That's cool too.

I know one school that won't overlook them.

Central wouldn't beat Warren East and Shelby County by 3 scores. Take that to the bank. They both would match up very good with Central. It would almost be a taste of their own medicine. Physical teams with very good athletes in their skill spots.

 

Nelson County would maybe have trouble stopping Central going off what it shows on the KHSAA scoreboard, but I can promise you that Nelson County's offense would give them fits. Why? Because E-town (pre 2011) gave Central all they wanted a couple times in 2009 and 2010. Henry County played them to a 48-38 game in the '09 region finals. E-town played them to a 42-35 game in 2010. Why are Henry and E-town significant to the Nelson County point I was trying to make? Both were very good spread teams that could throw it around. I think it's safe to say, with no disrespect towards Henry or Etown in those years, but Nelson County is every bit as good (especially offensively) as those two team were.

 

People forget that DeSales also played Central to a very close game earlier in the year (27-14). Why is that significant? DeSales and Green County (whom LaRue played this year and were beaten by a TD) are cut from the same tooth in terms of their style of play and if they played each other 10 times, they'd both end up 5-5.

 

Here is what people don't realize; Central first of all is still a very good team and deserve every bit of the respect they are given, even if it's Life After Ace, but if you are a ground and pound football team (as Central is as well), that just so happens to play relatively good defense (especially against the Run), then you have a chance vs. Central. Why? The main reason is that the clock is going to continue to run, it shortens the game obviously.

 

If you try to get in a track meet with Central (more so schools that are their size, 2A-4A), then you're in trouble if aren't completing many passes).

 

Clock management and styles of play in my 2 cent opinion is so underrated when predicting, or in this case, analyzing the "why" to a games outcome and records are wayyyyyyyyy overrated. I had this conversation with Commander25 earlier in the week, but I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see Larue stuggle defensively against Washington County. Why? Washington is a spread team with some very nice athletes. What has caused Larue problems in the past? TFS teams with actual athletes (not the "we want to get the ball to our athletes in space, even though our athletes run 5.1 40's" teams either).
