History does not support your view that this isn't news. As the article said, Rs have gotten as high as 11% of the vote in recent history. Many blacks that are "of the church" are very conservative. To see such a low level of support in the last election and what appears to be true for this coming election should be telling. Instead, too many just say "they always vote D."

 

Head in the sand approach IMO.

While you are correct, "Historically", this has not been news since the President started his run for office over 5 years ago.

 

I agree that there does seem to be a "Head in the sand" approach from the GOP. That has to change or the GOP will continue to fight steeper and steeper uphill battles to win national elections.

First, I love the picture in the article as well as the caption, "Members of the tea party movement demonstrate against President Obama in San Francisco,'' insinuating that the Tea Party and its 'racist rhetoric' perpetuates why blacks won't vote for Romney.

 

If people asking where an individual's documentation is is considered racist , I think Obama takes the crown.

That's a nice narrative until you look past the racism that suggest blacks only vote to keep their welfare checks and realize whites make up a far larger percentage of folks on welfare than black people. The interesting thing that has also arisen since the famous 47% comments is that 8 or 9 of the top 10 welfare states are deeply Republican states.

 

This is true but as population percentage, blacks in prison and blacks on welfare is higher -- looking at the numbers shows that our current system, for some reason, tends to put blacks in prison and on welfare in a bigger ratio than whites when it comes to the population percentage. Blacks make up 12 percent of the population but account for a third of food stamp benefits. the ratio is even worse when it comes to prison.

 

 

They point out that although Whites and African Americans use and sell drugs at about the same rates, Black men in 2003 were almost 12 times as likely to go to prison as White men. Although Black people are 12 percent of the population and 14 percent of drug users, according to Mauer and Cole, they comprise 34 percent of those arrested for drug offenses and 45 percent of those incarcerated in state prisons for such offense

Laws made by the government are the biggest contributing factors to racism in this country. Both sides do a crappy job at fighting it, and are, IMO, way to passive about these troubling statistics. The situation for minorities seems relatively unchanged.

I said what he has lied to blacks about? Obviously blacks don't feel he has lied to them or they wouldn't vote for him.

While not on the same wavelength as mountain ref, I will try and take a stab at this one. I think you would agree most black people were proud another black person was in office. I believe that is undeniable. I believe many in the black community felt that since Obama himself is black that he would drastically improve the plight of black people across America. Fair enough. However, since the President has been in office, unemployment numbers for black people is staggering higher and the violence between black gang members in Chicago (Obama's home turf) has gone through the roof of late. So while not out-right lying, I can see where you could argue he has significantly let down the black population across the country. But I would imagine his support is as high as ever from black Americans. Sure, the GOP may not be offering anything much better, but the President from my standpoint has not done much to help blacks across the country -- at least to the degree I believe many felt he would.

I thought the article I posted explained why blacks are at 100% support of Obama/democrats.

 

 

I hear your claim about the Democratic Party all of the time yet the Republican Party has done nothing to change the generations belief that they are entitled to the fruits of another man's labor. Why do the democrats always have to shoulder all of the blame? The republicans are just as guilty in my eyes. They talk the talk but don't walk the walk. They like the 47% just as much.

 

I have gone back and read the article for a second time. It basically says any disrespect aimed at President Obama is racial. Trust me, I criticized GWB much more harshly than BHO. Criticism comes with being at the top. If. 100% of white voters voted republican this election, it would be viewed in every circle as racism. And that view would be correct. Yet, if 100% of black voters vote for Obama it is a collective condemnation of the republican party's treatment of President Obama (with a lack of due respect). I don't buy what you are selling.
