Christian Academy-Louisville 41 Bardstown 6

Featured Replies

CAL struck early and often against previously undefeated Bardstown, and the Centurions defense shut down any and all attempts by Bardstown to mount a comeback. This projected close game proved to be a rout.

Bardstown coughed it up at its own 35 on its opening drive and CAL scored a couple plays later. It was all downhill for Bardstown after that as they struggled to handle #13 Lewellyn's size at receiver. CAL also got scores by way of a punt and KO return and completely shut down Bardstown's vaunted running attack, with most of the Tigers' yards coming in the fourth quarter.

The tough games with North Oldham and LCA early in the non-district schedule paid off for CAL, as they came into this game rip-roaring and ready for the challenge. Bardstown received no such challenges during its non-district slate, and it showed.

I can't get a fix on this outcome. I knew CAL was good, and that we were probably overranked, but a drubbing this bad was unexpected. I'm going to say it was an anomaly and move on to next week.

I hate to say it, but the Tigers got frustrated when things weren't working on offense and were hanging their heads a bit early. They didn't like getting hit in the mouth for the first time this season and did not react well.

Wow can you say shocker. Well at least for me that is. Congrats Louisville Christian Academy.

This was a complete domination by CAL. Bardstown’s offense was built to get outside and out run the opponent. I don’t think Bardstown has faced any team with the overall team speed that CAL has and they didn’t react well. Most of Bardstown’s yards were picked up by their QB when the play broke down. I don’t know what grade his is in but he appears to be a special athlete. The score could have been worse. By the mid 3rd quarter CAL was slowing down their play and working the clock. Bardstown scored with 30 seconds to go in the 4th quarter after CAL had done some major substituting.

The district will get sorted out in the next two week as CAL and Bardstown will have to play Desales. We will see then if this game was a fluke, if CAL it the real deal or maybe Bardstown is not that good.

2 contrasting styles. Not a fluke for Cal. Schedule plays into it and the matchup differences.
