MNCM
Congrats to Bourbon on the great start!
gchs_uk9
Final score isn't really indicative of how this game went. Garrard County led 8-6 at halftime, before Bourbon pushed ahead 14-8 after three. In the fourth quarter Garrard was driving deep in Bourbon territory but was unable to convert a fourth down. The very next play, Kentayvous Hopkins went about 75 yards to make it 21-8. Bourbon added some window dressing late with a pick-six.

gchs_uk9
Meant to add in my previous post that Bourbon County has a really nice team. My only complaint is I would try to get Hopkins the ball a little more. Coach Hodge and his group are spreading it around, getting several kids touches, but I think Hopkins can handle a few more. Johnny Poynter ran his wheels off last year... I think he averaged 30+ carries a game. As a result, I don't think he was near fresh enough at the end of the season, and I think he might actually have been hurt in the playoffs (can't remember, for sure though). I also know that he has had some nagging kind of stuff this year. Nothing wrong with 15 carries for a high school back.

Let me rephrase, because I agree with you that 15 carries is a nice number in high school. What I meant to say was that when Bourbon County needed a play, maybe a 3rd-and-3 type play, they often tried to get cute instead of running their best player. Now Garrard controlled the middle of the line well Friday night, but if I'm Bourbon County, when the chips are down, I'm going with my best player. Tall Trees
Just a FYI Hopkins avg 21 carries a game last season. Two games he carried the ball 30+ times. 7 games he carried the ball 20- times and 4 times 15-. Good point gchs_uk9 stats show prior to your game friday night he had carried the ball 20 times total in the last 4 games combined. Guess he will be fresh and in GAME SHAPE for the playoffs.
