Nets Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Blake McCowan has 20 points and 14 rebounds and Nathaniel Peyton has 24 points to pace the Cougars. Morgan was horrific at the free throw line missing 14 (22-36). Morgan built a 19 point lead early in the 2nd half and then held on down the stretch. Rowan hits a 3 at buzzer to make final margin 10 points. Vikings play very hard and played excellent defense I thought. Very physcial game and heated at times in a packed house at Veteran's Memorial...didn't look like a seat was left in the building. Morgan Co. was without the services of starting guard Derrick Young who is ill but hopefully recovering. Cougars get a week off before playing East Carter next Friday and then Boyd County next Saturday. Morgan goes to 13-2 on the season and I believe never trailed in the game.
Wireman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Matthew Daniels was 8 - 28 from the field. I think I heard on the radio that he shot 60% of the teams shots. He had 3 more shots than points.

Nothingbutnet Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Congrats to the Cougars!! Sounds like Morgan had it under control the whole game! I don't look for them to have any problems with East Carter, but the big test will be if they can beat Boyd! Looking forward to that game!!

Good win for the Cougars :thumb: The Boyd game should be A great one.Seems as if both teams are starting to gell at the right time.
Caveman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 This game was physical almost to the point of blows a couple of times. Refs did a very poor job of keeping this game under control. Emotion is always sky high with these two teams. Entertaining game though despite all the fouls.

Caveman Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Was the police ref there. I though you all had him contracted? I can tell you if he would have been there he would have gotten an eyeful of elbows, hip checks, and illegal screens cause there were plenty to go around. Adkins was a split second away from not playing against East Carter.
Wireman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 How many points did Daniels end up with. He had 25 points and 28 shots. I didn't watch the game, but his dad stated on the radio that he was pressing a little too hard. Good effort, but trying to do to much.
Caveman Posted January 15, 2006 Posted January 15, 2006 Pressing a little too much is being generous. He shot way too much is the fact of the matter. I also heard Daniel say on the radio that he missed some easy shots. I was at the game and he didn't have over a handful of open looks all night. Rowan seems to have other guys that could contribute if they were given the opportunity.
