XC Rule

Featured Replies

What is the reasoning behind the rule that runners' compression shorts, t-shirts, etc under the uniform must match?

^:idunno:

But if you don't follow the rule your runner could be DQed.

I'll tell you the reason.

The powers-that-be at the KTCCCA were toliet-trained at gunpoint.

I mostly understand, for safety reasons, the no jewelry rule, but I don't see how team members wearing different color compression shorts affects the outcome or gives anyone an advantage. I'm all for rules, but it seems a lot of KHSAA rules are made that do not have an affect on the game. I could even see a team having this rule, because it does make your team look better if everyone matches, but I don't see the need for a state-mandated rule on this issue. I was just curious if I was missing something.

^We had a similar thread discussion about why do the volleyball girls have to wear the short shorts, but the only resolution was that it's part of the uniform.

I think that in basketball there are limitations on the color of under armour type shirts worn under the jersey, as well as the sock color. I don't know how strict the KHSAA is in enforcing those rules.

On a side note, at today's cross country meet, various colored sports bra straps were visible under the girls singlets. Interesting that there is an issue with matching compression shorts.

Teams were in the lane yesterday and one team had several guys wearing compression shorts. All had on black except one who had on gray. Of course, the official told them one had to go, whether it was the black shorts or the pair of gray. This is a rule I've seen enforced several times.

I can speak to this one only too well. My son as a frosh and another young man from Lloyd finished 2nd and 3rd in the regional track meet a couple of years back. A coach from another team protested and asked to official to check the compression shorts of my son and the other young man. After examining the shorts both were disqualified because the stitiching of their compression shorts was not the same color of the shorts. In my son's case the stitiching was gray and the shorts were black.

Sew what? :D

(but good to know for future)

Wow! That's crazy. If I was the opposing coach, there's no way I could bring myself to protest due to the color of stitching! I would want my athletes to be proud in advancing on their merits, not some stupid technicality.

I believe the rule has been changed.

It was a very painful night/week for a 14 year old.
