September 4, 201214 yr Male's Chris Redmond was cut by ATL. Only a Connor guy could call Redman, Redmond. :idunno: 3100 yards, 21 TDs to 14 interceptions in eight years. Not a bad way to earn a few million dollars.
September 5, 201214 yr Not surprising with him still not being 100% and basically only having a little more than a week to learn the offense. He needs to get 100% before he probably has a legit chance to make a team. That's what I said before when you were saying how good the Gals receivers were for him to get picked up.
September 6, 201214 yr That's what I said before when you were saying how good the Gals receivers were for him to get picked up. Which I still stand by that. Even if Shipley was 100% healthy he still might have gotten cut because of the other receivers. You have to remember what Shipley did his rookie year really meant nothing, because Gruden was not there that year. Shipley didn't really get to play in Gruden's system, and Gruden really fell in love with Hawkins in the slot for him. Then with the drafting of the two receivers in Sanu, and Jones. Which Sanu can also play slot, and is where they want him at. Then when you add Ryan Whalen to the mix, who is basically just like Shipley but got to play in Gruden's system all year last year. It is not hard to see that Shipley even if 100% might have gotten cut still. I know most fans in this area loved Shipley as did I, however even if he came back 100% he still might not have made it IMO because of the Bengals receivers they have now. They don't have any standouts besides Green, and Binns still has to prove he can be the #2. However based on what each receiver could do, Shipley just didn't fit anymore.
September 6, 201214 yr It's pretty simple Shipley is still hurt so the Bengals cut him. Hawkins might be better or Shipley when healthy might be better. It doesn't matter b/c Shipley is hurt. That has absolutely nothing to do with how good the Bengals receivers are especially where it really matters which is who the number 2 receiver is going to be. Shipley and/or Hawkins were never going to play the other outside spot.

That has absolutely nothing to do with how good the Bengals receivers are especially where it really matters which is who the number 2 receiver is going to be. Shipley and/or Hawkins were never going to play the other outside spot. I will make it very simple for you. The only way Shipley for sure makes the team this year would have been if he never got hurt last year. If he never gets hurt, then Hawkins never gets his chance. However since he did get hurt, it didn't give Gruden a chance to see Shipley in the sytem, and allowed him to really like Hawkins in the slot. So even if Shipley came back 100% that slot spot was going to be Hawkins. Then when you consider the fact the guys they drafted in Sanu and Jones. With Sanu being able to play both outside and slot, it would have hurt Shipleys chances even more even if he was 100%. Shipley probably if 100% would have made it to the cutdown day and would have been between him and Whalen for that last spot. With Whalen and him being virtually the same type of receiver, and with Whalen already having a year of playing in the system over Shipley and also being cheaper than Shipley. Shipley's chance of making would have been small still even if he was fully healthy. That is my point. The receivers on the team would have been the reason if healthy because of the spot Shipley plays. There was no one he would have definitely been over to make it.
