#6 Garrard squeaked by Clay in their opener; facing a tougher test this time around?

Should be an interesting matchup. Garrard County played well enough to win against a decent Clay County team, but they'll need more offense this week. The running game was limited by the tremendous size up front from Clay County and the passing game was hampered by several dropped balls. I suspect a week's worth of practice could lead to some improvement in both categories this week. On the defensive side, Clay County's strength was Garrard County's strength - the Tigers ran and the Lions stopped the run. If Anderson County's past is a barometer for this week, they'll throw the ball around quite a bit. Garrard's secondary is young and this could be a very good test for them. It's too close to call right now.

 

This game is part of the Bob Allen Pigskin Classic at Danville High School, but unlike many bowl games, it will pit two old rivals against each other. Garrard and Anderson have met 22 times previously. Garrard County has only played three other teams more than they have played Anderson County (Harrodsburg, Boyle County, and Lincoln County). The Bearcats lead the all-time series 12-10 and have won the last four meetings, dating back to 1981.
