I wouldn't have a problem with any coach getting one. They helped that individual reach that level of greatness.I realize it would be silly to give it to every single coach a medal. Coaches of team sports should get one.

So why should team sports be different if the other coaches helped their athletes reach their goal? And what counts as a team sport? How about beach volleyball? Do you think Misty May and Keri get a lot of coaching? What about gymnastics? Most gymnasts have their own coach as well a team coach--do we give them both a medal? How about the trainers? They have a lot to do with the team's health...and then there are the people that arrange the travel to the Olympics. They couldn't win without them. The games are about the athletes, not the coaches. That is why they are given individual medals and not a team trophy in the team sports. Should they start giving the coaches in the NBA, NFL and MLB a big trophy just like the one given to the organization?

This is one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen on here. You do realize that players, coaches, etc. are all given championship rings in those sports, right?

Heck why stop at that point. Lets give their parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and all the way back to Adam and Eve. Airplane pilot that flew them to the games, etc...

 

NBA, NFL, MLB, etc coaches gets rings just like the player not sure what the organization has to do with it. If that's the case then the USA should just get all the gold medals like the Championship trophies.

You say the same exact thing anytime anyone disagrees with you. They always have the worst comparison, decision, perspective etc. Now back to the subject. In the NBA they are given those rings by the organization, not the league so it isn't automatic that they get rings. In fact, Jason Terry offered to buy rings for everyone if Mark Cuban decided to get something else.
