Question about college

Featured Replies

Is it normal for a player to get letter from college about tickets to the home games? I have heard of colleges inviting kids but never this early or in writing. Let me know about the process if you can help.

Really depends on the school and it's classification- NAIA is always recruiting and not limited by NCAA reg's.

Yes it is normal. Depending on the level of college a player should know what the status of their chances of being offered. Example D-1 schools pretty much will be settled on 90% of the kids they want by September.

It's a division one school. It was from University of Illinois. The kid is just a junior.

My understanding is that a D1 recruit cannot be contacted before September of their Junior year. There are no restricions on a recuit contacting a program though.

Happens more than you think, mainly because in 8th grade, they are not High Schoolers yet and Colleges can talk to the kids as much as they want. Until a Kid graduates from 8th grade and becomes a HS kid, they are free game for colleges.

I maybe wrong but I do not believe being a HS kid has anything to do with contact periods.

By this I mean the only reference I know of for permissible contact initiated by the school is Junior year. So to me that means all contact prior to May of the students junior year must be initiated by the student.
