This reiterates where many of us are in our decision-making when it comes to electing officials. I agree with Jeb Bush about the very troubling lack of compromise present today in DC. No surprise to many on here, I particularly agree with Jeb Bush's assessment of President Obama's first year in office. It was a great opportunity lost and squandered.

Maybe not the to same level as you but I do agree overall. The fact that Mitt Romney isn't already the run-away leader for the POTUS says a lot .

In this pretty much evenly split country (political philosophy wise) I'd think it would be unreasonable to think any GOP candidate running against an incumbent Dem President would be a run away leader.

Clever? This President is ripe to be beaten in November. The fact that the President still leads IMO is telling. Maybe "run-away" implied Reagan vs Mondale type results which was not intended but.... In the pre-2008 primary season I was very interested in Gov Romney and was disappointed he didn't last longer. Time, though, has diminished my interest.

Agreed on the "can't be worse" but see no reason either would change that. If the White House goes to the R side then the Ds will mimic the Rs and play hardball in the name of winning the next election. Why? Because enough people who vote care more about their side winning than doing what's best.

Then again, I have hope that enough people in Congress can and are willing to change if the right person is elected President. Can I be sure they will? About as sure that you can be that they won't. So I'll vote for Romney and hope for the best. Hopefully Romney will see what Jeb Bush sees and that I see: that to cram down one sided legislation right out of the box is a recipe for gridlock. I've negotiated a lot of disputes over my 28 plus years of practicing law. With the right leadership, folks who had stuck their heels in the ground were able to get past gridlock and become more reasonable.

June 12, 201214 yr He makes some good points in the article. Things need to change in Washington but I'm not holding my breath.
