Marin threw 80 pitches Monday. I don't know any pitcher that could have thrown off of 2 days rest.

Im pretty sure the rule for this tournament was you were only aloud to come back and throw if you threw two inning or less. The first pitch Martin threw Monday night in the third inning eliminated him for the rest of the tournament.You could only throw two innings or less to come back.

The KHSAA mandates a certain number of days rest based on how many innings were pitched the previous outing. If it was 5 then this kid had to sit out 2 days and then could come back and pitch upto 9 innings in this game. KHSAA rule says no more than 9 in one day and no more than 15 in 7 days.

3 to 5 innings only mandates 1 complete day rest (starting day after game pitched). Less than 3 innings, no rest needed.

Each inning that you throw a pitch counts as one inning. So the pitcher could officially pitch 0 innings and still have to sit out if the coach continued to bring the pitcher back in.

In 2008, Brandon Martin got every win in the 10th Region Tournament within a 4 day span. It can be done, but not all pitchers are the same.
