June 25, 201214 yr Author What is the stuff you purchased?It's made by Bonide and it's called "Snake Stopper". I saw two big ones in less then 12 hours and haven't seen one since I spread this stuff out.

June 25, 201214 yr If solid black it is most likely a black racer. Good snake to have around. Black patches would probably be a cowsucker. Harmless and useless. Black speckled is king snake. The best snake to have around. When you say good/best to have around...so do you mean just as mousers or rat killers? Just curious.

King snake is same as above, with the added benefit that king snakes also eat copperheads and other snakes. They are impervious to most venums. In fact some say snakes is their prefered diet. Niether of these snakes would ever typically enter a house.

June 25, 201214 yr Thank you guys. I got some stuff the the feed mill that I sprinkled around the chicken house and in has kept them away so far. Problem solved.....no more snakey poos in the hen house......be sure to check your basement...they probably needed someplace to get out of the sun !!! :scared:
