I know a lot of people that are genuises when they get to coach a game AFTER it is over. Unless I'm missing something, Scott has been as competitive this year as they've been in a long time. Might be reasonable to give Coach Trame a little time to grow into the postion and maybe make a mistake or two - if you even assume what is being claimed was a mistake.

Not on trames back just questioning the experience him and his staff has at this level, he is a great guy and im sure the kids love him but what I saw was them trying not to win, that crap of not wanting to go extra innings come on don't make excuses for them if you have a chance to win do whatever it takes and don't be happy with a 3-2 loss they might not ever get that close again, pike should have tried to finish the game unless he was done and had nothing left, if your a scott parent you might know the reason and let me know, he worked to hard for a no decision.

 

I'm pretty sure playing for extra innings is more like playing not to lose. If you don't think you'll turn the dp, you cut the run down at the plate to preserve the lead and the win. I don't care the sport, you don't play for extra innings or overtime on the road (not this case), or against a clearly superior team (which was this situation). If you have a chance to close it out in regulation, you take that chance. The real issue wasn't strategy, it was the error with one out and a man on second that lead to the problems. You make that play, and we're not having this discussion. As it has been in previous close games against top teams, it has been their ability to make every play or get the clutch hit that has cost them games. The coaching staff has pulled all the right strings....Brandon Wells for example getting as much playing time in all sorts of positions......this is not a team that was predicted to do well, and they've been extremely competitive.

 

As far as Pike not finishing, I don't know the story. I do know that Everett was at less than 90 pitches when he started the 7th on Friday. 100 is the typical ceiling, and perhaps the thought was why let Pike just throw to one batter since he was at 96 already. I would have liked to have seen him finish it.

It wouldn't be the first time to put the shirt on but any way im not taking nothing away from scott but when you keep losing this type of a game the kids will be second guessing the coaches and when that happens you have lost control. #11 was in total control the entire game yes he threw 96 pitches but the kid friday threw 100+ unless he said he was out of gas he should have been given the chance to finish and we might not be having this conversation. Not many kids can say they went the distance and beat cch, that would look good in the scouts eyes, im done beating on the coaches just hope it gets better in taylor mill because almost don't count for much.

 

What scouts? It's high school baseball and very few college coaches have time to attend high school games.
