You need to remember who pays the salaries! I don't disagree about finding the right man for the job but come on, Do you really believe that? Taxpayers ie Parents have every right to know whats going on. With that mentality its no wonder the school is in the shape its in!:madman:

Communication is the problem. Administrators must communicate with the parents if you want to be successful as a school. Look at our education achievement numbers, less than satisfactory. Education always comes first, I agree, but when educational success and athletic success are both below average something needs to change. Their priority was to hire a girls varsity basketball coach before interviewing for the football coach. Their reasoning was they wanted a basketball coach named so the girls could go to camps this summer. I agree that going to camps is important but their season does not start until late Nov/ early Dec. Football starts in August and there are no assistants on staff as well as no head coach of course. Our boys would like to be given the same attention as other sports at this school. Common sense says if you let a coach go the end of March, don't wait 3 weeks to advertise for the vacancy because the season is only 3 to 4 months away. So now the boys can't work out because school is out and there is no coach on staff to monitor the workouts. When they are questioned about their lack of support they get extremely defensive. This administration is afraid to talk to and answer parent concerns.

2. I was at the GCHS has week and I know for a fact they were interviewing 3 candidates that night, had already interviewed another candidate and had a few more they were intending to interview.

 

3. Those of you that have not worked in the school system have no clue as to what goes on around year end. Testing, Graduation prep, year end course work and finals, summer schedules for all your sports, contracts for games for all sports, spring sports finishing seasons and post season activities.

 

4. May 15th is the day that all teachers have to give their intent as to if they plan on returning, as well as the school has to let the teachers know if they intend to keep them or dismiss them (if non tenure.) Since that was Tuesday of last week they now have some idea as to what teaching openings they may have, and can interview candidates in those areas.

 

5. I am in no way posting this to defend how GCHS has handled this situation from start to finish, however having the correct facts about what is going on is important.

Plantmanky, I am aware of the facts. I know they interviewed candidates the last couple of weeks. I know what goes on at the end of a school year. But remember these are supposed to be experienced administrators so they should be able to handle multiple tasks at once, after all they are paid a salary. I am also aware of the May 15th date, but they had no problem interviewing candidates for the girls basketball position weeks before they did for football. So how can this be justified when their season starts months after football the football season does. Probably because the good ol boy system is alive and well and the person for the basketball position was known before the job was advertised. So please let me know what facts I have wrong. I was told they are suppose to make an announcement today. These boys deserve to be supported by this administration and I believe here at GC football is considered a nuisance to the administration.

The teachers and administrators are paid by the state government not directly from individual "tax payers". If that was the case, then there would not be enough time in the day for teachers/school workers to do their job. With that being said, it sounds like to me that the GCHS admin team is a joke.

Tax payers create the funding that allow the state to pay the salaries! And yes they do have to answer to the taxpayers. School board members are put in place by the voting taxpayers, the superintendent answers to the school board, the principal answers to the superintendent. So YES GCHS Administration is a joke and the parents, taxpayers or voters need to take a stand and make a change.
