First good luck to the newest 2-A school in the state, as far as football goes.

Second I read in the paper where the numbers were in the 80's, but have dropped down to somewhere between 50-60, not bad, but to the players on the team get to work on getting some of those guys back on the squad.

When will they begin playing varsity football? I heard they might play some varsity the first year. :ylsuper:

Who is the head coach?

I believe that they will be playing at least a limited varsity schedule this first year. From what I hear the numbers have been up and down at times, but they are having 55 or 60 on the low days. They have a lot of work to do from buying equipment to building fields, not to mention building a team. I have a lot of respect for the school system and the kids for finally getting the chance to get on the Football field!

Former Berea HC Todd Harris is the Head Coach.

This will be a postive for Jackson county community, good luck. Hard work and more hard work to build a program from the ground up.

Did they have a pee wee organization prior to this? and do they have one now? Do they have a middle school program or plans to start one?

Good luck to Jackson Co.!

Any word on which district they may be in?

Logic would probably say that they would be in either of district 6 -

close to Estill and Powell County - or 7 - close to Breathitt and Leslie

Counties a bit farther away. However, with the size of District 6, I

would say 7 is more likely.

Did they have a pee wee organization prior to this? and do they have one now? Do they have a middle school program or plans to start one?

It is my understanding that they have none of these things.

This is my understanding as well. I believe that they are going to try to get a Middle School and HS program going this year. The youth league is something that they want to get going as soon as they can, not sure who will be in charge of setting that up.

What is Jackson Co. high's colors?

Their colors are red, white & blue with the mascot being Generals.

Good luck to coach Harris on getting this program up and running. I know that it has been rumored to have ben a possibility for YEARS now. My only question is what girls sport will they be adding? You know that they'll probably have to add something to offset the numbers game.
