Boys 13th Region Fear 'Les' Regional Ratings

Featured Replies

Harlan would have had to skip the WYMT to play in a holiday tournament. They don't have too many options with the six-team district they are stuck in for now. Ten district games are a lot.

Harlan has trips to E-Town and PRP along with the WYMT and All "A" Classic. They also play most of the top teams in the 13th Region, with the obvious exception of South Laurel, so they have one of the tougher schedules in the region.

The list looks good though, but I'd put Harlan higher and Pineville lower. Who has Pineville beat?

Well Pineville started out 6-0 (the first time in school history, I think) by beating JFWA, TN, Evarts, Bera, Red Bird, Bethlehem, and Bullitt East. Then they lost to a strong Louisville Eastern team who went to the finals of the 5/3 Classic. Then they got beat by a not so good Garrard Co. team but you can't go an entire season without an upset (unless your South Laurel). They then beat Whitley Co. pretty good and then beat Jellico, TN. So there is who Pineville has beat and who they have lost to.

Pineville is better, but wins over J. Frank White, Evarts, Berea, Red Bird, Jellico and Whitley would be expected this year for a top 10 team.

I like your list Les other than one thing. In your list you described North Laurel's last performances as "dismal", "surprised" and "disappointing". After such a negative description how could you leave them #2? What will North have to do to fall out of the #2 spot? What will Bville have to do to move to #2, beat South?? I have a feeling frogs will fly before North goes to #3 on your list. I agree with the rest of your list though. :thumb:

Actually, I had to do the poll after B'ville won the CFIT. As of today, B'ville would be at the No. 2 spot. But, we'll have to wait a week, I guess.

North Laurel led much of the game and only succumbed late by 8 to Louisville Ballard, who would beat everybody else in the 13th Region not named South Laurel by 30.

I know it was preseason but Clay beat Ballard.

yeah thats what I was about to say....I was not that impressed with Ballard when they played Clay..and Clay ended up winning by I think 2 or 3...so I would not call that a loss by 30...I personally think Bville and Bell could take Ballard..they did not show me much...when they came to Manchester...

Some wouldn't give credit to Clay under any circumstance. Sometimes I just LOVE being a Clay Countian.

I doubt B'ville or Bell could play with Ballard. Clay had a super game that night and played harder than they have in years.

Everyone is so extreme in trying to make their points.

North Laurel probably should be second, but they aren't 20 points better than everyone else.

If Clay could beat Ballard in a scrimmage, then Barbourville and Bell and several others probably could "play with Ballard."

There is one very, very good team in the 13th Region, there are a couple of really bad teams and everyone else is in the middle.

I was not very impressed by Ballard...the tigers did play good...but Ballard too me wasnt that great.....and I would not say the best they have played in years...

I didn't say it was the best they played in years, I said they played "harder than they have in years", I thought that was obvious. Unfotunately they haven't played that "hard" since.

Change the "couple' to "several" and I would agree 100%.

Interesting point...

All of North Laurel's 5 losses have come to teams ranked in Cantrell's Top 25.
