  1. I don't know where to start . I sat with LSU at the regional baseball games at Patterson and we stood together in the tunnel when my kid wasn't having a very good day. He could always make you feel better about any situation and fully realized what was going on in your head and instantly made you feel better. To say he will be dearly missed is a sad understatement. It is really going to be hard to replace all that energy and charisma that he had. He had a spirit and drive for Trinity that was unequaled. Everyone is going to have to step up to fill those huge shoes . My prayers and thoughts go out to his family as well. LSU Rock.......FOREVER

  3. who was on the hill tonight for each club
  4. Strike 3 must be swinging instead of throwing ! The St.X fan suggested to shamrock 69 that IF Petrino starts in 04, etc. All the Rock faithful knew that Savko was the right man to start . As I recall , it was many of the St.X fans that coined Nick as a non QB after the Tigers defeated the Rock J-V when Nick was a soph. NO , he didn't grow 5 inches in between years or anything, but the kid really learned and improved a lot under the tutilage of Oscar Brohm and Bob Beatty. ( I think that he may have had some home schooling too as did a kid named Brian a few years before, thats life being a coaches kid) Brad Savko was a super quarterback and a great kid from a great family. He put up Brohm like numbers , (as did Petrino........gotta give love to this offense) I wish Brad all the best at Western , and I will attend some of his games . The best CSAA quarterback? Now thats' a stretch. I would have to cast my vote to Paul Schardein. He had a cannon and could also run the veer to perfection. He didn't grow much , ( a little taller than Petrino) so the high school he attended made him a defensive back. Its too bad he had to go there because his Dad was an all-state lineman there (both ways !) in the 1960's. If only he would have gone to Trinity ! (and listened to his old coach) Now he is doing an outstanding job officiating in the KHSAA both in football and baseball. (BUT, his strike zone is a little wide when behind the dish)
  5. Well, I thank God for the fortune my 2 sons had in their varsity seasons under Coach Beatty. Buying 5 rings has been nothing more than a debt of pleasure that I will forever be grateful for the rest of my life. As for stating the truths about this run, it may well be called rubbing salt into the wounds by our biggest rival, and I would have to say that many of them deserve it. But in taking from Coach Beattys' speech at the banquet(my last I guess) , humility is a virtue that can keep a man headed on the right path. I would rather win again and just grin rather than ...........
  6. Play it in say , April . Why wait until June ?
  7. I think what is left out by most, is the fact of how hard these kids at these schools work, because their coaches push them the right way and get them to become all they can be. Sure , 4 kids make first team all-state at Trinity , but those kids know that there are many on their team that can play with anyone . It is because of the commitment that everyone has involved in the program more than having a sprinkling of exceptional players. I think that any honest person would tell you that this Trinity team wasn't as talented as last years team, but played with tremendous heart and LISTENED to their coaches. They did more than listen, THEY BELIEVED IN THEIR COACHES ! Did they have more talent than every opponent? Absolutely NOT ! But they did listen and believe in everything the coaches did and prepared them for and executed and gave 110 %. You won't lose too much at a place like Trinity with that type of effort.
  8. D1 caliber players sometime pass football offers to play other sports in college.
  9. We would have guessed that you never washed your underwear ! Just kidding .
  10. Going back a few years: Ray Baer Charlie Kuhn Jim Kennedy Johnny Meihaus These guys could coach with the best of them .
  11. GEE whiz , some are awefully touchy here. BOB BEATTY FOR GOVERNOR !
  12. 1. Coach doesn't want more money (that is always sweet though) He wants to be happy where he is at and be able to run things right.(at least I think he is O.K. with the money thing) 2. He has coached in college and likes High school football much better. 3. I would hope that he sees the Trinity community as family .(the football coach at Trinity is always the 'big daddy') 4. The Hall of Fame is sure to be calling ! 5 in 7 years is incredible, even by TRINITY standards. The Pope should be dialed up about cannonizing Coach ! 5. He has the respect of all the players and parents 100%. He always gets everything out of the kids because of his proper connection. All players, given that they are trying their absolute best , get the most out of their abilities. There is nothing more you could want in a coach than coach Beatty. 6. many Trinity fans will be jumping off the Kennedy bridge if he leaves. I for one, think that he understands the game of football better than any coach we have ever had. That is a huge statement when you consider who has coached at Trinity over the years. He just knows the game inside and out, and can flat out figure his opponent. 7. If he never won another title in ten years the Trinity faithful should still be forgiving for the last 2 he has won with inferior talent ! St.X last year and Male this year had far better athletes than Trinity. Yet Coach Beatty and his staff pulled it off. Having a kid on these last two teams makes me even more grateful I guess. We are all still walking on air !
