2A Lloyd Memorial vs. 2A Walton-Verona Predictions
SPARTAN4LIFE replied to wisbey's topic in KY Football (High School)
Walton seems to be filling the holes lost from graduation with talent and speed. Defense will be strong with 4 year starter Hunter Ruber at LB and FB. Offense will have several kids with speed with Smith under center. Should be a good game. -

Walton Verona by 14 -
Walton has obviously lost some great talent in the senior graduating class. The under classman stepping up is a normal for Walton, now Senior Halsey Page will be a big running back coming off a good season and hard working in the weight room. QB?? That is the question I think Walton is asking themselves right now, who is going to be under center. Evans will be another good back for Walton as well. Hunter Ruber will be a 4 year starter heading up the defense for Walton, 6'0 227 LB FB but has only played defense so far, is Barth deep enough to keep him on one side of the ball only. Others to mention to watch will be Pettyjohn, Smith, Hammond, Townsend, Stammer. Coach Barth and his staff will put together another good season

What a good game to watch for the second week in a row. Glad to see Newports run this season and Congrats to NCC. The Refs seemed to have called a good game here tonight maybe missing the one call but overall was done well it seemed. Last weeks Newport-Walton game was very poorly officiated and tonight's match up probably should have been different based on game changing calls. Good luck to the boys of NCC and bring home a trophy for NKY Football. -

Listening to one game on the internet and watching a great game between two good teams in Verona. I would have to say the Walton-Newport game was a horribly officiated game and it is a shame the referee's would in my opinion were the game changer for this match up. Four fumbles by Newport were ruled down and two of Touch downs were called back by very questionable at best holding calls. Would have liked to have seen the officiating crew let the kids play ball especially in a big game like this. Congrats to Newport on their win and Walton Verona on a great season. -

Yes there were some embarrassing comments and actions from both sides, but we should never judge the entire program from the actions of those not involved. -
5262314]Unfortunately the playoff schedule does them no favors and this is the year they have the best chance. They will get Newport at home and will have to beat a team that has beaten them. Then if things play out in form they would have to go to NCC. Then win that and have to travel for semis. I would like their chances a lot better sitting at home for 4 games. Can anyone advise how home field is determined during the playoffs now? If MCCAIN and Walton Verona end up meeting, how does NCC get the home field advantage? Looking at the stats, Walton has a better overall record and leads NKY in points scored as well as fewer points allowed so when your that deep into the playoffs how is home field determined? ?

I would agree with that but having Scott County so far up that list is giving them some this year. Having seen them play only once this year I dont feel they are nearly as talented as SK or Dixie this year. Dixie is hungry to get to state and dont think they have been there since 85. There is some great football up in NKY and I see all the classes from there doing well this year.

I dont think that the NCC should be looking that far ahead. They will most likely face Newport or Walton Verona which both teams are hungry for a title. Walton comes off a big win against LCA who on paper is bigger, faster with more depth and talent. Walton has the leading rusher I believe in NKY if not the top 2 last I checked. So calling NCC a definite win in this region is a little arrogant because im looking at some nice talent up here in NKY and very much looking forward to the upcoming games in all the classes. Good luck to all teams and play safe. -

Catlet was huge part against LCA and has been all season long. He definitely anchors the defense. -

Impressive win for the Bearcats who settled down after falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter. Compton, Lattimore and Page took over on offense with the line doing a great job. The defense obviously came alive with sophomore LB Hunter Ruber and the secondary shutting things down. Senior DL Dave Carr held the line while putting pressure on LCA's quarterback. Good luck in the playoffs. -
Best LB's in Northern Kentucky this fall

I will agree with the Meyers and Sauerbeck at Campbell, have not seen a lot of SK's Team of LB's. Let me add a young man who started Middle LB last year as a Freshmen, Hunter Ruber for Walton. This kid definitely shows D1 potential the next couple years. Keep your eye on Ruber this season and the next two.
