How do you stop Ben Weyer?
Thebrother replied to theguru's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I heard from a reliable source that you need a steady supply of kryptonite -

Weyer hurt his wrist or fingers on the same play Moeves went down on. Can't believe they're allowed to lean, wrap and hold on Weyer regardless of where he is on the court. -
According to Twitter, Weyer did official visits to Lee and West Liberty over the last week. West Liberty also threw an offer his way after the visit. He had an unofficial visit at Lincoln Memorial University as well. Bellarmine was 3rd last year in D2, West Liberty was 5th, and LMU was 6th. Some nice schools in there.

Ben Weyer (NewCath) Jr. Season Highlights

You listed his only scholarship offer, but he might not have that anymore since they got the new coach. He said Cornell, Brown, EKU and now Princeton have been messaging with him lately. -

Weyer was taken out because of this "charge" early in the first quarter... This was also somehow a no-call no-foul... Drew just magically got that bloody nose (cutout instagram users name bc he's private, if he wants it listed I can put them up like that If these are the best Refs the 9th has to offer then I feel sorry for the region. I still think NCC is better at the game, but Cov Cath is a million times better at the mind game, and that's what won it for them. Beat them up for the first half, smack talked the entire game (see #15's technical) and got in their heads. Still, at no point should NCC have had more fouls in that game. NCC definitely shouldn't have won with how they played, but that doesn't excuse them getting beaten up at every turn and the refs let CCH get away with murder. If they don't establish a precedence from the start, they just beat the kids to death. Especially when Swallowed-My-Whistly Pouncey(sp?) is "officiating." NCC needs to man up in their next meeting if they want a chance, they need to get physical themselves and show CCH that they're not afraid, and send some of the bullying back at them. It'll help when Zach gets his leg cramps sorted out, and Ben isn't in bogus foul trouble. Fix the absurd number of turnovers and I think NCC could win by 20 if they get it together and get past the mind game. Was also glad to see NCC handle the press much better in this game than the last time these teams matched up. I still think NCC is a better basketball team, but until they learn to play the mind game they won't win against CCH. I like how CCH's coaches got their student section involved as much as they could. They kept turning to them and waving at them to get pumped up and start shouting. Glad to see Eric Anderson show up for the Breds in the first half, dropping 3's and putting up 9pts. -

There's absolutely no reason to tear a player apart to promote another player, especially when you know DAMN well these kids get on here and actually read this stuff. Hell, after the St. Louis Christian game they were sitting in McDonalds talking with each other about what was written on here by posters. You should be ashamed for trying to knock a kid down to put another on a pedestal. These boys bust their butts day in, day out in practice and don't deserve to have their hard work torn apart. If anything, that post has shown your lack of a basketball IQ and how blinded you are by a favorite player (especially apparent from your post history) rather than watching the whole game. Both of these boys have different strengths and weaknesses, but to outright say Weyer lacks the ability to pass is a laugh. Same for a lack of ball handling. Does the ball just like bounce off his face when he tries to dribble as he trips over his shoes? If you want to promote a player, then sing their praises, don't tear someone else down. THAT is how you support them. Not by pointing out one players "deficiencies" and then another players strengths. That's not a comparison, and is a half-hearted way to try to show support. Let the kid get some hype for his play, especially when he dedicates himself year round and is finally seeing the kind of stud results he's been working for. Damn, the competition is hard enough in Louisville, they don't need it here as well. To the players that get on here, don't pay attention to the negative things people may say. You do you, keep playing and keep improving, and don't give things like that a second thought. Focus on your goals and stick to them, because at the end of the day, you're crushing it on the court hopefully having a blast, and doing what you love. Think before you post, especially when you try to tear apart a kid who has been working for years and is getting results. Who needs assists anyway when everything you're putting up has been on point.
