  1. That's a good question. I'm honestly not sure. This job hasn't tended to attract a wide pool of candidates in the past because of the size of the school and the Ads did get lucky a long time ago when Boyle drove Mason out and she came to Danville. Former Garrard coach Jimmie McCulley was an assistant coach under Mason for several years and could be a target but I'm not sure if there's any interest there. They could run it back with Cliff Berry, who went 14-14 with a young team in his one year at the helm from 2017-2018 and who came back for a while to coach the boy's team as an assistant (he worked under McKinney). The two attractions to this job is that with Danville you will always have some athletes/players in the building if you can get them. And you have a chance to make the All A state tournament every year. DCA's recent rise complicates some the latter, though. It's going to be hard to replace Coach Mason's drive, competitiveness, and energy. She demanded a lot of her players but got an awful lot back in return. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ads end up with a first-time coach for this job but I'm hoping they could hit a home run with an accomplished coach, obviously.
  2. Anyone think they reach out to Chris Souder at South Laurel about coming back to this job?
  3. The other thing I read which makes this lawsuit weird/sketchy is that there's no contract he's claiming he signed, right? Just a promise? That's going to be tough to prove if its just verbal. But IIRC the NCAA has said that NIL deals can't be a contract, is that right? Whole thing is a mess!
  4. Seems like the people who might get the richest from NIL are lawyers looking at how many lawsuits are popping up and are also looming with Title IX when it comes to universities directly paying players (since that's on the horizon). I'm also surprised we haven't heard more stories yet of players having 1099 problems for taxes. I'm sure that won't be far behind!
  5. Hate to see it. Coach Mason has been an amazing coach for the Lady Ads, easily the best in program history. Only coach to take the Lady Ads to the state tournament (and also win a game there). Had some close calls in the regional tournament to get back there as well in recent seasons. She will be sorely missed on the sidelines.
  6. Excellent hire by Garrard. That's one that could really turn their program around in a few years.
  7. Valid points, although I think JCPS' defense will be that these schools are optional to attend if they are magnet (correct?) so as a result it is not on the hook to provide transportation to them if it elects not to do so. Not sure if that would hold up legally but I can see them using that argument.
  8. But how much of this is LeBron's fault when he tries to play GM and make some moves and basically ends up gutting a roster around him? This has been a pattern in his career where teams trade lots of assets to build something for LeBron. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But there's a pattern in his career of going to teams and diminishing returns set in and then he bounces for greener pastures almost as if he is one of those aliens in Independence Day who suck up the resources of a planet before moving on to the next.
  9. Just imagine the headache for this as a coach if you aren't giving enough minutes to LeBron's son. Like, what if he demands he gets a starting spot? Have to feel bad for his son too. He clearly needs some more seasoning in the college game and instead you are going to be drafted not by your ability but solely because your dad demands it. Nepotism at its finest (which isn't unique of course to the NBA and pro sports).
  10. Has anyone heard anything about this job? I've heard nothing substantial.
  11. I can't see the NBA Players Association being happy with a player of LeBron's caliber taking the league minimum. That hurts their whole collective bargaining position, even if LeBron is getting older and his production isn't what it was.
  12. Saw that Danville also posted a PE/Health job in the past week. So it seems like this job is definitely open. Haven't heard anything locally about candidates, though.
  13. I couldn't remember if they even removed the "interim" tag from him last year. I'm sure that they did because that tag was given because of paperwork/HR reasons but yeah, I've wondered the same thing.
  14. With Danville continuing to lose athletes to surrounding schools it may be difficult to bring in a good coach and generate a lot of interest. This will be the Ads third coach in 3 years.
