Typical Kentucky All Star drama. It never ends!!!!! Players making the team that dont even show at try out. Guys getting suspended and quitting. Guys taking their shoes off in scrimmage games. It goes on and on!!!!!!! -
Kentucky/Indiana Allstar team

Kentucky has to have a complete overhaul of the evaluation process to select players for the Kentucky team. I know this has been stated in previous posts. However a selection committe needs to be formed headed by Stan Hardin ( 3 or 4 former successuful retired coaches, a few former players who have interest in this, and the coaching staff for the next season. It needs to be a year long process instead of a 2 and half day cram session of 43 kids. Then I feel we can really get back to competing, and it would be fun and the kids could take a lot of pride in making this squad. Must be based on positions and back ups etc. for certain spots/formation of a real kentucky all star team -
I was at tonights game. Manual is playing great basketball and I agree have a shot at the 7th. Seneca was just not into it at all tonight.

Iroquois 135 Atherton 52
kyhoops replied to KY Thorobred's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Talked to someone who was at game and said Iroquois shot it really well. The bench shot it well also. He said they played 2-3 zone the entire second half and took all the starters out early in the third. Everyone has scored a lot on Atherton this year -
The bottom line is Kentucky needed a group of guys that could pressure Indiana. They needed to speed the game up. However they played a half court game with them. They knew the personnel of Indiana before the tryouts. This is why I believe the roster was not the best to beat Indiana. I like Wilson (Central), A.Wilson (Fulton Co), Hood, and Sanford in the system it would take to beat Indiana. As well as Mosley (Moore), Dowe (Eastern), and even one of the Faulkners. I think you had to pressure Indiana and turn it into a pressure game, wear Hulls down. I really thought Brown and Jordan were the only penetrators Indiana had. You pressure them full and make them play fast. You create points with defense and then you spread the floor and slash with everyone. Both Wilsons can do this. But you have to have guys who can create and score and we did not have that. WE needed Mosley

There is a problem with all of this. Who cares about AAU especially when college coaches can not even come and watch during May. I could see if it was July and the kids had to make a decision about what they were going to do, because they needed to be seen by specific colleges etc. However in May, and you have a chance to represent your state or play in a glorified pick up tournament with no meaning. Whoppdy do, I won the state AAU championship, or I am one of the best 12 juniors in the state and will represent my state this summer and help get our seniors ready for their game with Indiana. However this is the way players and adults who know basketball should be looking at things. That is the problem with our state teams now, and the state of the game in Kentucky.

Best high school coaching jobs?
kyhoops replied to oldrambler's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I want to add Shelby Co. to my earlier post. Tilghman first, Henderson 2nd, Owensboro 3rd, and Shelby Co in the 8th as well as South Laurel. Jobs that have talent year in and year out and you can get to the state tournament. -

Paducah Tilghman in the first region - quality athletes always and overall talent in region is not that solid year in and year out Owensboro in the third- similiar to Paducah in the first. District is tough, but always a chance Warren Central in the 4th - similiar to the ones listed below/if it continued after Riley left,as far as getting quality players South Laurel job - always a chance to get there based on talent level
