I personally have witnessed Breathitt practice.....As of right now, they r thin in numbers. Breathitt may be fielding alot of boys that will play both sides of the ball this year. I will say this...The lose of Ben Alex, will hurt the defense and the overall team alot. I have had the pleasure to play with Ben. I was a senior last year and I can't tell you how motivating this kid is on and off the field. He is the type of kid that you want representing a high profiled team like Breathitt. If he decides that football isn't in him anymore, then i see Scott Bailey returning to linebacker, and one of the offensive linemen will have to play both ways.... The biggest problem i see Breathitt having is most def. the offensive line play. I have seen some of the skilled players working extremely hard throughout the summer, but when I have asked about the line, I have been told that some haven't showed up to put the work in....With that being said, I do expect Hunter Morgan to have an outstanding year on the O-Line. I would also like to draw attention to Jade Haddix...He has been working very hard and I honestly could not tell if that was him or not throwing the ball...For the next 3 years Breathitt will be just fine at the QB position. As far as replacing the oline is concerned it may be the biggest problem for the offense.....but the biggest problem over all is replacing Beckham Herald. It may have been the smallest senior class to ever step foot on Breathitt's Field.....But I do believe it was one of the hardest working group of boys to ever put the pads on.....Best of Luck 07' Bobcats.....

I agree.....to many people across the state a 8 win season is magical lol....I think Breathitt's program has the ability to build great leaders and that contributes to the success they have.....Last year Breathitt had only 4 seniors, and in many people's minds should have been in the Regional Championship game...At the begining people thought 5 wins.....At the end Breathitt was ranked #4 in the state of Kentucky(2A)......Says alot about how much that young team grew. Just imagine what they will be able to do this year...I was one of those 4 seniors, and I honestly believe they will be on the carpet.....

Duke just didn't have enough time to rest after the game with cornell....It was roughly a 100 degrees outside during that game.....Great showing by both teams..Very fun sport to play as well.

Colby Fugate from Breathitt should have his best year. Being a senior with the a group of hard working skilled position core, should make for easy pickings for this kid. He had a standout tightend in Ryan Allen(who will be a junior) a 5'6 wide out that runs a 4.5 and a heck of a route runner in rusty herald, a good slot reciever in Wes Epperson who with time finds a hole in the defense. 2 really good backs in Chris Jackson and Channing Fugate. With that beings said this kid has plenty of targets to give the ball too. I honestly expect him to be the best quarter back in eastern kentucky next season. He is every bit of 6'4, and roughly 185-190 lbs. He is a very smart player when it comes to football, he is truely a student of the game. And who better to learn from than Mike Holcomb. Remember the name Colby Fugate next year, you will hear it alot.

Fans Pre-Season Top 10 - Class 3A

Breathitt and Somerset in my opinion will have good enough play from the Skilled position to take them a long way. The only problem i see for Breathitt is the offesnive line. Breathitt only lost 4 3 of which were offensive linemen. If Breathitt can fill the holes up front and give a very talented Quarterback some time to pick apart the defense(especially with all those weapons coming back) Breathitt should light up the scoreboard. Breathitt's defense returns all but 3 starters. 2 defensive linemen(one in which{Casey Allen} made the Courier Journal 1st team All-State Defense) and a great safety. With the coaching from 2 of the best in the state of kentucky in Holcomb/Chapman, the sky is the limit for Breathitt this up coming season. I look for Breathitt to be playing on the Carpet once again in 2007. -
3a..... #1 Breathitt County #2 Belfry #3 Russell #4 Somerset #5-#10 its up for grabs

I agree with you 100%. It's hard for those schools especially when your close to schools such as, Belfry, and Johnson Central. I feel for those schools. I will say this though, Breathitt isn't as big of a power as they have been in the past. Mostly due to the fact that the boys that come through there are petted growing up. Coach Holcomb does an amazing job with the talent he has, and what talent is lacking. I will say this, high school has alot to do with coaching, and Breathitt is second to none with coaches such as Mike Holcomb, and John Paul Chapman.

Breathitt would have to be up there. You would get the support of everyone in the county, in just about everything you do. You have an amazing stadium, and weight room. The fan base is great, and tradition is rich. In my opinion Breathitt would be in the top 10. If i had to pick one from eastern kentucky, it would be between Breathitt and Bell county.

Pikeville College is having a great recruiting class it seems to me....With names as posted above, along with Casey Allen of Breathitt County, and the Linebackers from Johnson Central this recruiting class has to be one of the better classes in the state. Congrad's to all these players. Look forward to watching these kids play at the next level.

14th Region Coach and player of the year

There is something to be said about Coach Lively. He has coached 2 programs and took both to the regional tourny. Thats 2 different teams in back to back years. He is an awesome coach who can relate to the players. He loves basketball with a passion and it shows. His players respond well to him, and I wouldn't be suprised if he wins a regional title in the next few years. -

Blake was a heck of a Center. I played against him this past season. Out of all the centers i played against he was near the top. -
Iroquois 57 Breathitt County 46

If you didn't look at the score board you would have thought Breathitt won the game. Turnovers killed the ladycats. Shouse was unstoppable for the ladycats and i couldn't figure out why she didn't get more touches in the second half. Kendal Noble is only a 7th grader and played like she had been to the sweet 16 before. I seen alot of promise in the ladycats coming back next year. For the 5 seniors who are leaving congrads on a wonderful season. It's been fun watching you play......I was a little disappointed in Iroquois fans. They were standing outside as the pep bus and band bus of Breathitt left. Pretty mean stuff was said to those kids. I thought they had a little more class than that.
