  1. I disagree. Policy is still all about feelings; it's just that the only feelings that matter now are Mr. Trump's. He's the bestest, most popular president ever and his crowds are the biggest crowds and his people are the best people and how dare anyone else say otherwise.

I'm not surprised you don't agree. For conservatives policy is not about feelings. I don't like Trumps attitude. I voted for a different person in the primaries. I am proud to now have a president who isn't basing policy on the feelings of the left or the feelings of foreign people. The only policy I disagree with him on so far is the proposed tariffs and economic isolation. Mathematically that is not going to work.

  2. First Congratulations to all these young men for signing a football scholarship...big testiment to them on their abilities. Second...congratulations to EKU for signing 15 of them. I remember not too long ago that EKU signed maybe 1 Kentucky recruit...so kudos to them.

A friend of mine has a theory that the president or AD came in and told the staff to get some KY kids in there or else.

  3. Here's what CovCath has: location, location, location. If you want a Catholic education, and you want to play big school football, you only have one option in NKY. Additionally, there are ZERO football playing Catholic high schools in Boone Co and southern Kenton Co where the population keeps booming. CovCath is it. The issue with this becomes that Ryle, Cooper and Simon Kenton have stepped up their game. It will be interesting if the pull of playing for Eddie and his staff and the chance of winning a state title trumps the success that those other three have had over the past few seasons. In all honesty, it will take a minor miracle for any of them to win a 6A title.

But the thing is that paragraph is not different. The school has been located in the same place all this time it hasn't won a region. It hasn't been in 6a at all. You have forgotten about NCC by the way for football. The only difference is Eviston, you have to hang your hat on Eviston.

  4. I don't know that I'd say "alarming". A little disappointing? Maybe so.

The fact is, Cov Cath has gotten far too accustomed to NOT making the semi's and state finals over the last decade and a half. In the late 80s and 90s, there isn't much refuting that Cov Cath had a winning attitude, with a record to back it up. Since 2000, they made the semis in 2001, and they made/won the state finals in 2006. Fact is, for the guys currently playing on Cov Cath's team, those are the only visits to the semis and state finals that they've ever seen the Colonels make in their lives. Furthermore, they've only seen Cov Cath beat Highlands in the playoffs twice - and one of those wins took place while they were still in pre-school.

The fact is, job one for Coach Eviston was re-instilling the winning attitude. Case in point, the 2015 Lex Cath game. After losing their first 3 games of the season, Cov Cath was coming from behind in the 4th quarter against Lex Cath, scored a touchdown to pull within 1 point, and Coach Eviston called for the 2pt conversion to go for a win. He got confused looks from his players. Instead of a killer instinct kicking in, the players were looking to play it safe and go for a tie and overtime rather than going for the win. Prudent call or not a prudent call, that's proof positive that there was a lack of a properly instilled winning attitude there.

Look at the results this season, and you're going to see something different that you didn't necessarily see in recent years. They fought for an underdog win against Sycamore. They beat Lex Cath. They were outmatched by Columbus DeSales, but held them to a 4 point lead in the 1st half. Major points in their wins over Oak Hills, Beechwood, Highlands, and Doss. Coach Eviston is making headway when it comes to job one. He's getting the winning attitude where it needs to be. Job two is to get the wins that count the most.

Awesome insight into the program. Keep preaching coach Eviston.

  5. Winning record(so what, how is that different), better head coach(what evidence), better coaching staff(how do you measure that), a lot of talented players(so what, how is that different), youth program that's supported by HS(how many regional champions don't have that), fan Support(so what, how is that different), facilities being upgraded finally can't hurt(yay, lights!), kids have bought into the staffs plan and hard work expectations(who says).

    I'm underwhelmed by your proof.

  6. While I'm a Cal guy, I think that the problem most sane fans have is his stubbornness. Like him or not, he'll win or lose his way. Same problems carry over year to year, lack of change ups defensively, poor free throw shooting, poor 3 point shooting, etc.

Coach K, Pitino, Self, etc. reinvent themselves. Cal doesn't. UK is always in the hunt for the ring, so in all honesty it doesn't matter. Just perception. JMO though. Short of Coach K there is no obvious upgrade.

    This.

I just want him to drop the stubbornness and shore up some things.

  7. Not in my mind. I like KenPom. I use it as a tool. As much as I love stats and numbers, they aren't the entirety of the picture. I don't think Kentucky is the #2 team either.

If I had to guess, in my mind the top four are North Carolina, Villanova, Arizona, and Kansas.

To beat a dead horse a little more Kentucky is #91 in the nation in field goal percentage defense. I'm about to write Mr. Pomeroy a letter to see how he came up with #13

  8. Cleveland State's leading scorer is Rob Edwards. He averages ~16 or 17. He went for 28.

Justin Jackson averages ~17 and went for 34 for UNC.

Ole Miss's leading scorer is Deandre Burnett. He averages 18 and went for 19.

Vandy's leading scorer is Matthew Fisher Davis. He averages 16 and went for 19

South Carolina's leading scorer is Sindarius Thornwell. He averages 20 and went for 34.

Tennessee's leading scorer is Robert Hubbs. He averages 15 and went for 25.

Thanks for that, I didn't want to dig it up myself.
