App st beats Michigan with spread. The 3 back offense is dead everywhere but Navy. Spread offenses and passing gurus like Urban Meyer are the rage all over the country.
Obviously Hawaii and Texas Tech aren't on the cutting edge. I must be confused. Peace.:ylsuper:

In the last 2 seasons, they have played 4 teams that I would consider to be big dogs and their offense didn't ever put up more than 24. How is that as good as it gets?
Texas Tech has more overall talent than Hawaii and the have beaten Oklahoma and Texas in the last couple of years. Thats as good as it gets. Defense and turnovers lead to bad field position for an offense, give Hawaii USC type defense and 24 might win a few.
-
Numbers don't really mean anything if you can't win your games when they matter. Hawaii is a decent team but I don't think they have the ability to truly compete with the big dogs therefore I don't think their system is that great. It works for their conference but not in the big picture of things.
Ever heard of defense?
Defense is the reason Hawaii isn't a big dog.
Same for Texas Tech.
Defense wins championships.
The offensive systems are as good as it gets.

Cassity and his gambling man to man! Play smarter fellas or it will be this way all year. Ever heard of cover 2 or quarters? ZONE blitz for goodness sake.
-
I get mad at these system detractors. Everyone has a system. If Hawaii's system is the only reason they put up those numbers then everyone not running that system isn't too bright then are they?
-
Johnson Central will dominate the coaching aspect of this game.
B.S. loses this game.
-
They have the same base plays. The middle school coaches may add a wrinkle, but if they don't run the same offense, the head middle school coach may be out of a job for not doing what Coach Letton wants.
The middle school runs out of the I formation primarily. I saw them last week.

Before PCHS started playing football in the late 80's/early 90's, there was one consolidated team: Somerest High School. Anybody in the county who wanted to play football went to SHS.
As for consolidating the teams, it would create a big surge for a year or two, like being seen at Mercer County and then it would equalize once the number of experienced players move through the system.
I agree 100 %.

Can the Blue Devils continue to score while coach Simpson figures out how to play some defense?
-
I did not expect this at all. :scared:

If Corbin can play with some fire and emotion for the entire game, maybe they can surprise Dunbar much like they did the Shane Boyd led Henry Clay team a few years ago in the Pigskin Classic.
Corbin 21 - Dunbar 16
That quote is innacurate. Corbin beat a young rebuilding 7-5 Blue Devil squad led by David Buchanan at Q.B.
Dunbar Rolls.
-
Corbin will play with emotion early in the home opener/Bowl but Corbin fans just don't realize what 6-a dunbar is bringing to the table. Bulldogs by 3 T.D. 's

Fellas it is a little of both. The fans/students/administration in Ohio does put a higher value on football that we do in Kentucky. I envy that. Also look at it this way. If they have roughly 3 times as many schools as we do then they will have 3 Trinity's, 3 Stx's, and 3 Males for every one of ours.
Pikeville vs. Lexington Catholic predictions

I predict a moral victory for Pikeville. They will have 150+ rushing yards and claim to have won the line of scrimmage and hit harder. Meanwhile LexCath will go over and around the Pikeville line on thier way to at least a 4 score victory.
