Looking at this schedule there is a real possibility for another 2 win season. Best scenario is a 4 win season.
I believe the offense will be fine and able to hold its own in a lot of games. My biggest question going into this season is defense. There are a lot of these teams on this schedule who run deliberate clock control offense as well as quick strike capability. The Cardinal's defense spent a lot of time on the field last year and it took a toll on them. This is my concern this year as well.
Right now outside of the QB, I am not sure what any other skilled position players they will have on offense. They should be fine and RB as they usually have a decent player always getting reps. I was refreshing to see that the offense will be looked at because GRC RB sweep left, GRC RB sweep right, and GRC RB up the middle hasn't worked in Winchester in a decade.
Hopefully soon they will start contact drills and I can get a better idea of where we stand for this year. But that schedule going to be bumpy.
The major obstacle for the defense the last two seasons was a grumpy worn out defensive coordinator who blamed everybody (including the players and previous coaches) for the defensive woes.
Bledsoe is no longer at GRC.
You will see a faster and hungrier defense swarming to the ball.
My guess stands at.4 wins minimum.

Toyota Stadium would be a nice location, but parking would be an issue -- especially if school is still in session. I covered a playoff game there a few years back and the atmosphere was incredible.
This is why I suggested that the 1a and 2a games be at Georgetown.

I don't understand this fixation with Lexington. People seem to forget that there are parts of Kentucky west of Louisville.
Also that completely leaves people who want to attend all the games out in the cold.
The games would not be played at the same time.
For example, play the 1a and 2a games at Georgetown on Friday at 11am and 3pm and the 5a game at UK at 8pm.
Play the 3a and 4a games at EKU on Saturday at 11am and 3pm and the 6a game at UK at 8pm.
Other states do this and it works great.
Why not here?
-
Well you will likely need a large venue, frankly I don't see the issue with the larger stadiums.
I just downright am biased against Lexington in general because I would rather have them in Louisville. Between Lexington and Bowling Green though I prefer Bowling Green.
Why not have several locations around Lexington?
For example
Have the 5A and 6A games at UK.
Have the 3A and 4A games at EKU.
Have the 1A and 2A games at Georgetown.

Any info on a scrimmage?
-
Have it anywhere but PJS, WKU, or Commonwealth.

With no more than 2 or 3 wins. I am trying to be realistic. He wins 4 games, IMO will be a positive start for him.
IMO, 4 wins is the minimum number that any head football coach should have given the talent on GRC this season.
-
But parking and lodging problems mean that you won't have a full stadium.
Also, I've been to Centre's stadium many times and I would be floored if it actually held 6,000. It also has no media room, no place for coaches to meet/network (a major part of the state finals, by the way), and extremely limited concessions.
Build it up.
They will come.

The football team has worked hard in the weight room and outdoors with conditioning this off-season. Riddle has a lot to work with heading into the season.
Anywhere from 4-6 to 7-3 is a great possibility.
-
I would much rather have a full stadium with parking and lodging problems than an almost empty stadium for each game.
-
I think 4 wins is wishful thinking, the only "guaranteed" W I see on there is Rowan, a maybe pull out a win against Lafayette or Tates Creek. Don't think they touch Henry Clay, Anderson, Boyle, Scott Co or Bourbon Co. They'll still struggle this year
That's why they play the games.

Why not hold the state football finals at Centre College?
It is a beautiful college football facility. Farris Stadium holds 6,000 fans. Add seats to the visitor's side if you need them.
-
4 wins, 3 losses, and 3 tossups.
-
Agree.
What record would you consider a rough year for Riddle, gold sunrise?

I believe that this team is capable of winning the district and having a winning record.
-
This won't become and issue unless the Cardinals have another rough year.
What record would you consider a rough year for Riddle?

Just started for the Juniors and Seniors. Others report later in the month.
Thanks.
I was traveling on Boone the other day and saw some freshmen and sophomores walking home after conditioning.
I heard that Riddle is conditioning them very hard.

I hope they plan on having 2 football teams. That's a killer IMO with a school that big.
The more the Middle Schools feeding a big HS like that, the more kids that GET to actually play, which obviously will carry over to the HS for the most part.
Gold Sunrise might be able to give you more details.
Perry Williams, a local chiropractor who has donated countless hours and equipment for the weight room in the off season, was announced as the Campbell Junior High football coach.
-
I know you said they feed into either a 5A or 6A school, but I just wonder if it's one of 2-3 Middle Schools that feed into said HS (ie: Henderson County with North and South Middle; GRC and its two middle schools, etc).
Clark County has combined both middle schools beginning with the 2014-2015 school year into Campbell Junior High School.

I dont think that is what Ram meant. I think he was referring to someone having an "axe to grind"!
Either way, please DSTM.

Not even a week into practice and already want the coach gone, kinda shows why things are the way they are at GRC.
The local website posted it on June 11th - over a month ago. This was days after the hire.

Seems too soon for the axe, Ram.
Give him at least 1 full season.

Mike Riddle named new Head Coach at George Rogers Clark

I know that Tony Kirk is one of them. He was on the hiring committee. He was the freshmen coach last year.
He was in the picture on the far right when they made the announcement.
