  1. Congrats to the Rams on a nice win. They must be improving to win at Greenup. Perhaps they'll make some noise after all come district time.

The game was played at Raceland. Raceland is geting better they must find help scoring Tyler Fraley had a decent game along Jermey Barr both played well I should say. D. Jackson did a good job running the point for Raceland.

  2. Those three will be the nucleus on the mound, no doubt. I think McKee will have a big year on diamond, weather it is on the mound, in outfield, or at the plate. Like you said, we will have to see who is there on the first day. Jeremy Barr will be an asset behind the plate, I don't know if he will be on the mound any or not, but he could be.

I hope McKee has a big year also, because he was hurt for almost half the season last year.

  3. Did you guys throw any of your three starters in district matchups? Raceland was o-5 in district in regular season. That is why I thought you needed pitching.:thumb:

I know McKee did throw in relief the first time against Russell and did alright. Wilson and Reynolds did most of the pitching I believe in the district.

  4. We have a couple that should be alright in Wilson and Reynolds they are the only two that has thrown alot in varisty. McKee was getting some games under his belt until he got hurt. We had a few others throw in some games also but these three is what everyone I have talked to seems to be the main ones as of now. I guess things could change once practice starts and the coaches sees who comes out for the team.

  5. Congrats to the Devils and good game Brandon Boyd 6 of 7 from 3pt range seems like the Tomcats should have put someone on him after hitting 2 of them. Devils had only one in double figures and was out rebounded both had the same amount of turnovers from what the radio(Dicky) said. Russell just made one more play than Ashland. Ashland better be ready for Rose Hill or it will be another loss for them.

  6. Jeremy Barr beat Billy Logan out as catcher for a travel team out of Louisville, according to a coach on staff at GC.

I this should help Raceland I don't know or should I say cann't remember Raceland throwing a base runner out all last year.

  7. He is from Cen. Hardin. Raceland will have Wilson,Reynolds and Mckee back for pitching. They have to find two more for the varsity team. Carver is back will more than likely hit 3rd. They must find a leadoff hitter after Peyton Martin graduated big shoes to fill and will miss him at shortstop.

In short terms they need a couple of players to step and do some pitching and must find a shortstop. There is some players that could step up that played jv last year that will help the team if they put the effort out there.

  8. Contact Sonny Denniston at Scott County High School and your Booster Clubs can sell chances on the 2009 Toyota Camry or Tacoma given away during the Toyota Classic Basketball Tournament. If you sell at least 250 tickets you get $8 for every $10 ticket sold for a total of $2000. If you sell less your cut is less. It's an easy way to make some money. If you have 20 players and they sell 15 tickets each you will clear $2400. We did it for years when I was Booster Club President and we always made $2000 - $3000 dollars.

Correct me if I am wrong but the school has to have a gaming permit to do this. I was asking about it and someone told me that, I would really like to do that if possible.

  9. Ever since I have been following Raceland (approx. 38-40 years) imo they have always played a very tough schedule, at least as tough as they could. There are some things like schedue conflicts, travel concerns, contract length as well as some schools just flat not wanting to play. I am sure there others reasons that I am not aware of that comes into play in scheduling. I do know that a lot of the teams that people are talking about as being to easy have been district games that have to be played.

This is imo a lot of the same thing that Russell has ran into for a lot of the years. For the most part Russell has had absolutely no competition in the district games that they were required to play with the exception of Mason in the last couple of years when they went back to AAA. For whatever reasons Russell moved out of AAA once and played in a terribly weak AA district. Russell is now back in AAA.

One thing that does strike me as funny is people now saying Raceland plays a weak schedule. Practically everyone Raceland plays other than their district games are a bigger school (and they win a large pct. of them at that;)).

For Raceland to be such a small Class A school I believe they play a very tough non district schedule year in and year out. Raceland is also always looking to improve on what is already a very tough schedule. Adding Russell in the last couple of years and extending that contract is one example.

This is a JV game thread though so I guess that I am as guilty as anyone for getting off topic. I do appologize for that, was just answering a post with my opinion on it. :thumb:

Congrats again to the Raceland JV on a Great seasaon and to Russell's JV on the win.

I was talking about the jv schedule. I dont understand why we cant play other teams than what we are. Keep the games such as Ashland,Russell and Greenup County also Fairview. Play Ironton, Portsmouth try and get a Lexington team or a team from northern Kentucky like I said this is for the jv only and even the freshmen.

  10. If anybody from Raceland would like to help work on the field be there at noon saturday Nov.8 2008. We will be cutting weeds and fixing some minor things around the field. Heck if you are not from Raceland and wanting something to do show up and we will find something to do. Please bring weed eaters and lawn mowers if possible.

    Thanks

  11. I wish Raceland would step up and play some more teams like Russell. I know some of the teams we play you could have fallen asleep. I would like to see them play LCA some northern Kentucky teams even if you have play on saturdays it is only going to help in the long run. Congrats to the coaches and players on this years jv team very good season.
