First off Russell played Graves Co. and to say they did the 16th harm is not a fair statement. Any team that gets to Rupp Arena has accomplished a great feat. I was only making an observation about longevity as opposed to a few good years. I do not even know Coach Dodd but from what I understand he was very successfull at the college level and has done very well at Russell since he arrived at the school. Personaly I feel Zornes is the best coach in the region now he has come back to the area. Dodd is a close second. Others are very good as well like Biggs etc.

Nothing against your choices but I will go out on a limb and say Steve Dodd is definitely better than a couple people you have on this list. Not to take away from a few guys on the list but they propably do not even have a 500 winning percentage and the district championships they have could be counted on one hand combined. ( obviously Zornes not included and Biggs is a newcomer.)

I would take Wayne Breeden any day he just recently got back into the high school ranks but this guy works more hours and gets more out of his players than any coach I have seen. He is the best coach I have seen come through the 16th region when he was at Ashland and took Owensboro to the sweet 16 in his first year. He may not have accumulated the wins that some have due to his college coaching years but should be thought of as one of the best in the state.

That would be interesting. He did a great job in his first tour of duty as coach. This region needs some fire. I would like the old Zornes and Breeden rivalry of mid 90's. Maybe Boyd could schedule Owensboro if Zornes does come back to Boyd. Seriously though would be a no brainer if he applies.

Did not know Boyd was an open position. I may have missed this one.

Rowan is a nice team that may get a little underated sometimes due to the fact they are not located close to most of the schools in the region. I think you were right to have them rated as high as they are. Until someone steps up and proves they can beat Boyd it does not matter who is 2nd or 16th for that matter. I feel 2-9 could be interchanged at any given time depending who is on the hill.

I think it looks awful when a coach does not wear a uniform. I believe in looking like you have class and representing the school you are coaching. Wind breakers are fine for practice and a scrimmage but when it comes to games wear the uniform, tuck in the shirt, polish the shoes and lets play some ball!

A good feeder program has to consist of the high school coach being involved in the players that are coming through his system. The coach should make sure his young players are getting the instruction he wants taught. So when he gets them they already have an understanding to what he wants and expects. I personaly believe that each high school coach should have a summer team of 15&16,13&14 that all play together with someone they select to coach these players for the future of his program. Each team should play between 30-50 games with a few weekend travel tournaments to play against better competion that is in one league or county.
