  1. Knox Central, can only get to Rupp, if the get a ball handler between now a Regional. They had a 17 point lead at South Laurel, and lost it simply for not being able to handle the basketball under pressure. Five different 13 Region coach's in the building smelled blood. They won but South, missed like 10 lay ups and 6 threes. at the end. Central, has a good team, but ball handlers become a premium at tournament time. Corbin has best shot, but don't count out South, Cumberland, Knox Central or Pineville.
  2. Is Corbin, the number 1# seed in their district ?
  3. Dave, said he thought the Cincy Knights, Cincy Laker's, The Ville, had committed to the 13 Under all star division.
  4. The Ville, is playing in a 13 Under All Star Division. I was told it's going to be a pretty good All Star field. Who Knows?
  5. The Ville, is playing in next weeks BCI, in Florence, KY. It could be Sanders, first game back since Dec. I hear his ankle and leg rehab is going well. His conditioning the biggest concern for him at this time, he's been out almost 3 Mos. I know South Laurel, wishes he would be ready for this weekends KBA Middle School Tournament, but he's not quite ready.
  6. What will make the class of 2013, so special is the competition level. I love watching all these kids play from across the state. I try to keep up with them as much as possible. I love hearing good things about each of them. I call this class " The Fun Bunch" as alway their fun to watch play.
  7. qryche11, Thanks it really gets frustrating, but it's part of playing sports. I'm looking forward to watching a lot of these teams and kids play in the future. Kentucky's class of 2013 is loaded with talented players. I hope to see you in a gym, in the near future. Good luck to the Bird's in the Middle School State Tournament.:thumb:
  8. Clay Co. has lost their starting PG. this will hurt them some. I don't think it will be like South Laurel, losing their PG Sanders. South, lost one of their better bigs in the middle this past week also. I hate South, is not going to be 100% coming into the Middle School State Tournament. South, has not been a 100% all year, 4 of their starts have been hurt or sick all year. Not a good situation for, this years Cards to be as competitive as last years team. The Cards won State BCI, and State USSSA at Hoops. With a 41 and 2 record last years record. With key wins over New Castle, IN, PC, Lex Cath, Hazard 3 times, Wayne Co. twice, Meece 2 out of 3 and 2 big wins over the Louisville Prodigy with Snyder and Quick. Their only losses was to The G-Town Thunder at a Thanksgiving Tournament and Meece, at Meece. South, is the type of team that is like a puzzle, if their missing a piece of that puzzle it hurts them. They are a very quick and athletic group of kids. The most athletes group of 7th graders 1 thur 10 I've seen, in the state. They don't have a lot of skilled basketball players just athletes. Sanders is a big part of their offense and makes them hard to press. Sears, Radar and Byrd is their next best skilled players next to Sanders. Sears and Radar are about 80% with knee and hip injuries. South, should be competitive and play hard but as short handed as they are with 2 starts out, it will been a tough road for South Laurel. Good luck Cards!!!!!!!!:dancingpa
  9. South Laurel's, Sanders will not play in the tournament. He is out for 3 to 4 more weeks rehabbing his ankle and leg. Very big loss for South, but their still a very solid team. South, will be a very competitive team with Radar, Sears, Byrd, Mitchell and company.
  10. The Ville's, has been invited to play in the Texas Titan's tournament in March. The other 4 teams invited is the Super friends, MI. A.R.C.12, CA. OBC, OH, and 12 Under D1 Champs Huston Defenders, TX. This is a true heavy weight :fight:tournament. This will be a very tough challenge for the Ville. They will play a brutal schedule 3 games on the first day and 2 games on the next day. One game a day against this type of talent would be exhausting. They better tighten the laces and double knot their Addia's sneakers.:thumb:
  11. Boomer72, I do understand were your coming from about the BCI Refs, their arrogant and their being no repercussion for their actions. Inconsistency is the worse part of bad ref-ing and that "they are", big time. Had a mom parent, escort a BCI ref, off the floor last year after a game. :argue:She ask him how he would feel, if his child had to play a basketball game with some one like him ref-ing.how would feel.:fight: He just looked at her with a blank look on his face. Take care hope to see you in a gym sometime soon.:thumb: By the way, I didn't mean to get your blood pressure up over the BCI refs.
  12. Dave is a great guy and runs good tournaments. I understand about the refs, however it's just around $100.00 to play even, if you got $80.00 Dave, will let you play. You get what you pay for in most cases. What I hate, is to pay $200.00 to $395.00 and basically get the same type refs and calls. I've seen and coached games at the KBA, and other places that were ref as bad. They, were certified with all their patch's. AAU national had a lot of high school and small college refs, they were inconstant and made horrible calls at times. $100.00 can't hardly fill your gas tank and get you something to eat at a restaurant. It can get you 3 games or more at Dave's place.
  13. Boomer72, Dave, has taken over Sports of All Sorts, at Turfway. Dave, should have some great tournaments in the near future. Dave, will not turn any team a way. He will work with anyone, if you need a place to play BCI's, the place.
  14. Sanders, is one of the 3 grade exception for the Ville 13 under. He should be ready to go by mid February, if all goes well. The Ville's, grade exceptions are all young hold backs by most AAU standards. Sanders and Hatcher are grade exception by just a few months, Hick's by just 2 days. Morton, is the oldest but he has a early spring birthday, he plays up with the 8th grade team mostly. Quick is not a hold back at all he, has a fall birthday.
  15. South Laurel, 7th grade PG Sanders, broke his leg last Tuesday night at Boyle County, in the final 2 Min's, of the 8th grade game. Big loss for the Card's, but their still a very athletic group of players, if sears gets back from his sore knee, south should be fine with the help of Rader. Their defense wins a lot of games for them the have lots of team speed. The Rader, Mitchell, Penington and Byrd kids are very quick and pressure the ball hard. They will need Sears, for scoring with Sanders out for the next 6 weeks. Just a tough break for the Card's and Sanders.
  16. Southerkyhoops, South Laurel, has lost their PG Sanders, for 6 to 8 weeks. Their other good player Sears, is nursing a knee. South Laurel's lost their 2 top scores and team leaders.
  17. Who will be the top AAU teams in Div 1 and 2 to compete for the state title.
  18. South Laurel's 7th Grade, won 71 to 6 over Jackson Co. starters only payed the 1 st qtr and part of the 2nd. South's 7th grade improve their record to 14 and 0, 8th grade won 67 to 44, 6th grade lost 40 to 30.
  19. watched the Ville, play over the weekend. The Ville is going to be a very strong D1 13 under team. Their solid at every position and like to run a fast tempo style of play. I really like this team the looked very unselfish working the ball around for good shots. Most of these kids have experience playing D1, last year in the 12 under AAU National Tournament.
  20. Whitley, was up 8 to 0 before St john, went out in foul trouble. South, went on a 29 to 10 scoring run before the end of the second qtr. South's smaller line up and press turn in to trouble for Whitley, South turned them over for some easy baskets.
  21. Plato, I know your the greatest philosopher of all times. You know, their is no way any one can keep parents happy. Expcially when its comes to coaching their childen in sports.
  22. Spindoc, did the get their deer later in the day.
  23. Absolutely our Middle School coach's believe 10 or 12 is plenty of kids on their teams. They ask the kids the cut to find travel team or play for community sports teams etc.. They tell the kids the cut what the need to work on to be more completive for next year try outs. Parents will complain if their child is on the team an gets no playing time. I think the kids that get cut and finds them a team to play on has a better chance of improving. Than a kid that sets on the end of a bench all year and get little or no playing time.
  24. South Laurel's 7th grade started their basketball try outs today, has any one else started yet. Last years guys looked good, except the football players looked a little rusty. This years team is bigger, faster and stronger, they will be fun to watch if the stay health all season.
