You're right.
Imagine being a WW2 vet and you stormed Normandy Beach, but people can't stay at home and watch Netflix all day for you.
That one nearly broke me. The sacrifice that he made! "We" certainly can't reciprocate.
I have sympathy for small business owners. But lots of them that I know agree. Lives>money.

I was talking with someone I know in the medical industry. He said doctors and other people in the health care industry are scared to death of the reopening. I heard 100 doctors died in Italy during their crisis. If doctors and health care providers are scared, I'm scared.
My stepmom is an RN and she is scared. I have former students who are now doctors and nurses who are pleading with people to just wait a little while longer.

Story about a local man in Bowling Green who has recovered from Covid-19. He was treated with hydroxychloroquine, and believes that is what helped get him past this. Maybe just more anecdotal evidence, but I feel like I've seen so many stories where this drug had an impact that it has to have some truth to it.

That’s why scientific double blind studies are so important. Thinking something is working and it actually working may be two different things.

I watched it. Didn’t really provide a whole lot of new insight. The 3 people we’re all most interested in aren’t in it.
I enjoyed it. People getting to tell their sides and give opinions is interesting to me.

There is a new episode out. It’s a follow up with interviews after the show premiered.

Yesterday's total was again higher than the leading daily killers in this country: heart disease and cancer. In fairness, yesterday's daily total was spiked a bit because of the new counting method in New York.
It's not really a new counting method, but a new category that the CDC wants measured. It's a new column altogether for home deaths likely due to Covid-19. New York lists it separately but some have been reporting it together. Currently, that is somewhat of an estimate, but no doubt that there are people dying at home.

I was asking those questions in reference to schools specifically. I should have put that into my original post. Perhaps that is still off track?
I see. My apologies.

What is the threshold for the restart?
Should we wait until there is a treatment or vaccine?
I think we have another thread for that discussion.

I'm not proposing anything, just speaking to the reality we are likely facing. If we go back to "normal" too soon, there are going to be a lot of uncomfortable decisions to be made about how to handle people that have come in contact with the virus.
I am also speaking from the reality of someone that has a wife that is compromised and is currently living with the reality that carelessness at any given moment could cost my wife her life. That's not a great mental state to live with through all of this.
I'm so sorry that you and your wife have this to worry about, on top of everything else. I wish that those that are so callous and only seem to worry about the fun they are missing in their lives or the economic consequences of a shutdown would really put themselves in your position.

That's the story for me EVERY trip to the grocery store. People seem to zone out and believe they are the only person in existence. How hard is it to pick out vegetables or fresh meat?
Exactly. Then “Karen” is usually on her phone, too, which I detest (except for when someone is discussing what is being purchased.

I have two elementary age kids — third and first grade. They are both smart kids and enjoy school. But, honestly after ten hours of work coming home to be the teacher for them is a pretty low priority. I have seen nothing but praise for schools and teachers providing ‘learning’ online — aka doing their job. However, it’s all from 8a-3p. The class room meetings and instructions — nothing in the evenings for the families still working. Honestly, I am not to concerned considering this is for a few months over lifetime of learning, but in my opinion it’s a joke to think young kids are getting half out of this process. I respect the teaching community and those that are part of it, but for my family this is a failed experiment.
As a teacher, I am glad to have read these comments.
In my district, we had two weeks of NTI (non-traditional instruction) before spring break. It was decided that we were giving too much work and putting stress on families, so we came back with a new plan after spring break. A lot of it is good, but they only want us providing instruction from 8:00 - 3:30. This even includes answering of emails. I teach high school and I can see that many of my kids are doing their work at night. Also, as an example, I got an email from a parent on Friday night, asking some questions as regards helping her daughter. I didn’t hesitate a second and corresponded back and forth helping the parent and student. Imagine me choosing not to help until Monday morning!
While not ideal, I am for the most part pleased with what I’m able to provide and how my kids are doing. I miss doing labs with them. Most of my kids actually seem to be enjoying the work. I’m just sad that they will miss prom and a traditional graduation.
I believe that there is little chance of going back to school this year.

At the CMA about 30 years ago, Dolly did something amazing. This is very appropriate for Easter time. I am not a big country music fan, but this song will give you chills.
My sister posted this on Facebook this morning. Loved it.

My favorite meteorologist out of Louisville is pretty concerned.

I have one of the risk factors, so if schools opened back up (most of you know that I am a high school teacher) it might prove to be a difficult choice.

Also, is #66 supposed to be “Common”?

Funny you should say that. PP92 was the first person I texted it to when I saw it last week.

I have been home since March 18th, except for two trips to pick up Kroger Click List orders. Both times I was out, there seemed to be a lot of traffic in and around the grocery/supercenter/hardware stores.
There is is an off-road course and racetrack less than a mile from my house. Over the weekend, I would estimate that at least 300 vehicles have driven past my house, loaded with their off roaders or dirt bikes. Several include campers for staying overnight. I doubt that this falls in the category of complying with social distancing directives.

My 60 yr old stepmom, an RN in Pueblo, Colorado, woke up sick this morning. She called off but had to go in to get tested. Her symptoms sound a bit more like the flu than covid-19 (or maybe that is wishful thinking on my part). They told her the results would be back in two days or so. So, she is home with my 77 year old dad. Here I am 1100 miles away with no way to help and nothing to do but worry about them.
My stepmom’s results came back negative. What a relief.

Well, my wife finally broke me down and we have a puppy on order. He will be here next Monday; it is a goldendoodle. Last week sitting alone really got to my wife, so having the puppy companion will be a nice addition to the family. Plus we will be around these first few weeks to make sure he doesn't get into too much trouble. I have a lot of anxiety about this, but I know it will be good for us in the long run.
We are naming him Fauci.
Yay! Love the name!

Is there any place to watch it other than ESPN? My direct TV SPORTS package...(wait for it) doesn't include ESPN.
