  1. They will have a very good stable of RBs and they return some good linemen. They'll have to have Soph Guhy step up at the QB position. He did get some decent playing time last year when Logan went down and was steady. He's not the big play threat but doesn't make mistakes and is a heady kid. They'll have to find a kicker. Mcnutt will be missed. They've got some several defensive kids coming back, but Armstrong and Simpkins, LBs, will be hard to replace.

I agree with the others, they will be good and should win the district, but, will likely struggle early and improve as the season goes on but look out the next 2 years after.

  2. Gotcha:ylsuper: I hadn't heard anything about the 1a's. I would really like to see just 5 classes with 5a limited to 16 to 20 teams and the other 4 classes with about 48 each which would give you 7 teams in each district. Due to geographics, you may have only 6 in one and 8 in another, but, that wouldn't be to much of a factor really. I also liked it when they had a Metro division for the Louisville teams and you could throw in the Lex teams but if you did that, I think you'd have to limit it to just the larger enrollments..

  3. Ram, there's no way there going to cut back to 16 teams in 1a. There would only be 2 teams in the west and everything else is 3-4 plus hours away. Wouldn't be great on Fulton Co or Fulton City. They're talking about a super division, but, not limiting 1a. I like the idea of 16 in 6a, but, the next 5 classes would be divided equally...

  4. UK, UF, Miss St, Ark and Ole Miss all still have work to do to get in..The SEC will not get 7 teams in the field of 65..To me, Ole Miss beating Miss St last night put them back in the discussion and if they can win at Ky and get another 3 wins, they'll surpass us. We play every one of these teams except Miss St, so, for the most part, we control our own destiny..It wouldn't hurt for Miss St to take it on the chin another couple of times, but, we definately can't afford a loss to any of these teams to have any hope of an atlarge.

  5. I don't put much stock in it.. Not saying it couldn't happen, but, CBC strikes me as the type who loves the challenge and the bigtime atmosphere and he's said as much.. Not saying Ok St is a bad job, it isn't, but, it's not on a level with UKs.. Now if after say 3 years and there's not a great deal of improvement and he and Mitch are still at odds, for whatever reason, then it wouldn't surprise me, although, if that were the case, his stock would never be at a premium, like it is now.. There would always be those critics saying he was a failure at one of the premier programs.. Not good on a resume, if you ask me and I think he's got too much pride and determination to make it work..

  6. IMO, Uk goes 5-3 the rest of the way...Losses to Vandy, Arkansas and Tennessee, which leaves them at 11-5 in conference, 17-12 overall and although that could be good enough for 2nd in the east, I feel it'll probably have them at 3rd, which means playing on day 1 in the SEC tourney..If this is the case, I believe they'll have to win 3 in the tourney, which would be tough because that would put UT and probably Miss St on the same side of the bracket.

  7. I have heard a rumor that Jodie Meeks is thinking about transfering. Can someone comment of this? It is all centered around that Gillispie thinks that his injury is not that bad and that he is not very tough, so they are kind of in an argument. This is all rumor, but this is what I have heard today. Has anyone else heard this?

Someones trying to turn your crank...I've not heard anything remotely close to this...Gillispie knows that Meeks is too valuable to the Cats future fortunes to get something like that going... In addition, Meeks would be crazy to transfer and sit out another year, especially after having to sit this much of this year out...If Meeks stays, he could well be in the NBA playing for some big bucks before he'd even be eligible to play at another school...Just doesn't make any sense on either parties side...

  8. IMO, if Arkansas can go 20-14 and 7-9 in conference last year and get in then UK can get in at 17-12 and 12-5 in conference...Now if they do this and lose in the 1st game of the SEC, and are looking at 17-13, then, I feel they're squarely on the bubble and alot would depend on other conference tourney outcomes and we would want no surprise conf tourney winners if thats the case, but, 1 win or more in the SEC tourney and I feel they're a lock...So a minimum of 6-3 and 1 SEC tourney win the rest of the way and they'll be dancing..

  9. A tough, gritty performance. What impressed me were the role players stepping up, like Porter, Stevenson and Harris. Jasper did an excellent job distributing the ball and PP did a great job finishing. The ball movement, spacing and limiting turnovers were a big key. It's tough to go on the road in the SEC and win, but especially when Crawford, Bradley and Meeks out of there during the home stretch. I'm really starting to like this teams execution, toughness and ability to overcome adversity. Although they didn't do particularily well today on the F/T line, this is still a strength with this team. Let's hope everyone can get healthy because I can see these Cats going on a big run these next few games..

  10. Crawford is playing well and Jasper's doing a good job at the point. Hopefully, Bradley can play in the 2nd half or Meeks can get some minutes. Overall, I think they're looking pretty sharp on both ends and have kept the turnovers down. They just need to keep grinding in the 2nd half...

  11. What about Marcus Moss or the Parrott kid who played in the late 70's? We need to get Toothpick on this one.

Moss would have to be the best overall..Unbeleivable ability to stop on a dime and then explode through a hole, plus he had excellent balance and strength..His runningmate for a couple of years was right up there too, John Redd..He went on to Missouri and had a solid college career...There's been several others I'd place ahead of Bright...

Danny Fisher , mid 70s - went to Ole Miss

    Danny Kirby , early 90s

    William Murrell , early 90s - E.Ky

    Robert Mayfield , early 70s

Jamie Parrott , early 00s - Murray St

The Parrott in the late 70's, early 80's was Charles "Pinky" Parrott.. He was a great player but best on the defensive side of the ball and played fullback because of Redd and Moss being there at the same time.

  12. I guess one would've had to know what he is talking about, as I do. U of L was "supposed" to be great this past year. They had extenuating circumstances that prevented them from doing so. Those are now long gone, the future is very bright in the 'Ville. If one doesn't care for Louisville, I hope that they appreciated this past season, as it looks to be much more of an anomoly than SOP. As a UK fan, what gives you the supreme confidence that you are having already? A blown coverage to squeak out a win on your home field. Keep in mind, the man that threw that ball, and the man that caught it are now gone.

And so is the man who threw for 360 yds and the majority of the ones who caught them.. Plus, at the time, UL was ranked as a Top 10 team and the UK win was considered a pretty big upset..I also believe the future is very bright for the Blue and White.. By the way, I hope UL wins every game next year except for 1..

  13. I know but we should at least be able to land one of those guys.

I say Keith Gallon is most likely.

I hope not..He has some conditioning issues and is not someone I would count on for immediate impact..He'll be a good collecge player, but, I don't see him being near as big a factor immediately as any of the other 3 being mentioned..

  14. Since this is a numbers thread lets focus on numbers.

Football is a numbers game - up to a point. Then it because the other factors.

According to the NFL it takes 45 players on an active roster...

Good post, but, another factor involved with T and X is geographics. It's in the largest metropolitan area in Ky and has no geographic restrictions, which are placed on most other schools. Let's take Owensboro for example. If they took the very best players from Daviess, Apollo, Senior and Catholic and put them all on 1 team, they would still be dealing with a geographic disadvantage of about 7 to 1 compared to the Louisville area. And then, which one would get all these premier athletes. I'm sure there would be alot of rumblings from the other schools if they weren't the one these kids attended and would somehow find a way to veto it. Thats the problem with public schools vs private schools. Secondly, having 25 solid players in the top 2 classes can make a team competitive, but, when you can go 3 deep at every position on both sides of the ball without much falloff, it's a big difference. These teams with 45-50 kids still get hurt alot more when 3-4 kids go down with injuries than one with 120. It's just a fact. Add that to the 7-1 geographic advantage, as well as the non restriction of where they live, it is alot bigger than most on here want to admit..

  15. Nope, but they would be much better, immediately. Then if the kids and the community were to buy in, and do everything that our boys currently do. Yes, they would compete with Trinity, and X right now. Remember Seneca beat us in 2003, and we won state that year.

So does the community, kids and coaches not buy into basketball?

  16. If it's all about commitment and community support and things like that, then why is it T and X doesn't dominate in basketball, too? Do they not support that, as well? It sounds like the commitment, support, facilities and such are limited to football only at those 2 schools.

  17. There is a huge #s discrepancy with St X and T vs the majority of other 6a programs.. In comparison, look at Highlands...They have roughly 400 boys in there top 4 grades and then look at Pulaski Co, who is in 5a. They have roughly 500 boys in the top 4 grades. Not much difference at all and Highlands would in reality, fall into the 3a class.. Only 100 kids variance, 25 per class and they are 2 classes apart. In most cases T and X have signifigantly larger advantages..

  18. Depends on which players....that's a lackluster comparison, in that you are assuming all things are equal to our JC competition other than we have 25% - 40% more "available" players. That's obviously not the case in that our staff's ability far exceeds the ability of that of any other staff in the county.

So, you're saying if the X and T coaching staffs were at lets say Southern or Seneca, then they would automatically compete with them?

  19. When it wasn't the Bradley show UK lead by 16. He took over and we are on our way to overtime. Dribble, dribble, dribble.

I guess Vandy had nothing to do with the run:rolleyes:..You had to know they would, plus UK isn't a good offensive team, so, you also had to know they would have a bad streak...How about just rooting for the Cats instead of the critisism. It gets very old..
