  1. Please don't take this wrong; I am NOT saying this will happen in your case. But I HAVE seen a 71 point turn around from one year to the next.

    14 - 62 Loss

43 - 20 Win the next year against a VERY good team (the reigning state champion).

    That's a 71 point turn around.

I know it can happen, but, WCentral is supposedely not going to be that great or that much better this year and they're coming off a losing record.

  2. You are right but I will also add that there are a lot of teams that would had loved to have been in those situations/playoffs and weren't, ;).

True, but, there are also a bunch of teams who have been and have had alot better success...

  3. Sounds like the Rams should be solid, but, until they prove themselves in the playoffs, it's hard for me to put them up there with the elite teams...Since 1995, 13 years, they've made the playoffs 12 of the 13 yrs. , been beaten in the 1st round 8 times, the 2nd round 3 times and 3rd round 1 x...No regional championships or final 4's.. I really hope you make it all the way this year, but, until you start winning in late November, there's always going to be alot of naysayers out there... good luck

  4. It's ok, we have never beat Mayfield so we should never be above them until we do IMO, but man, 20 returning starters has me liking there chances this year!:thumb:

Crittenden will score on people, but, imo, they've really got to shore up there run defense to be a serious contender. The times I saw them, they got chewed up pretty good on the defensive side. I know a years experience and strength will help, but, it seemed to me to be more fundamental tackling than a matter of strength or experience. For what it's worth, I wish them alot of success this year. I hope they win every game except 1 and that's the one with the Cards...

  5. I think there should be 5 classes...Since 5a would have the biggest enrollment discrepancy, limit it to the biggest 32 schools and allow all 32 to make the playoffs, just like it is now....That would leave 191 teams, so there would be 48 in each class, with 47 in 1 of the remaining 4 classes.. Let the top 2 teams in each district have a 1st round bye, with the other 32 teams in each class playing a 1st round game..That gets everyone in the playoffs and only adds 1 additional week to the season, or, like some others have mentioned, either start 1 week earlier or eliminate the bye week and it still ends at the same time...

  6. Smith should have better passing #s...That was what Boyle Co did...Hopkinsville passed some, too, but, ran the ball about 70% of the time...Boyle passed about 60% of the time...Best I remember, the awards supposed to go to the best player, period, not the best player with a championship ring, like Vaught says...I wonder if he complained when Shawn Alexander or Tim Couch won it, too, or, is his complaint limited to when a Boyle or Danville player is in the discussion...Best I recall, they didn't have any rings either...

What's funny about what Vaught says is, he says it's supposed to go to the best HS player, not the one with the most college potential, then ends the story talking about the 3's college careers...And, one other thing, notice how this story only comes out after Pulley gets in trouble, which is long past his HS days, mind you, because if he happened to have not gotten in trouble, he most likely would be a starting QB on an SEC team, something Smith could never be and I doubt Turner could start at RB for too many SEC teams...

  7. Sounds alot like The Mayfield of the last couple of years...Which 06 was a real good year except they ran into a real good Danville team that was loaded...And I will add and Im not making excuses for Mayfield, but those guys had to be worn out because of travel...Dang a trip to Metcalfe Co. and then the next week a trip to Danville...That would be tough for any team...

Mayfield played well for the most part in 06, but, that was far from being one of there more talented teams and there defense, at times, left alot to be desired..I did think Danville had the best 1a team that year, but, kinda fell apart in the 4th qtr vs NCC...NCC was very solid that year, too, though..Gotta give credit where credit is due...

  8. I Picked Beechwood...But I feel the Beast from the west Mayfield This just might be there year...:thumb:

Mayfield was very young last year and they return the majority of there skill players, but, I still think they're another year away from being very, very good. They have to replace a couple of very good LBs and there QB, but, there line will be better, but, still young this year. Mayfields really good years are when they have the strong line play. They always have alot of solid skill players, so next year could be special. Not saying they can't win it this year, if things fall into place, but, they should be better suited for a championship run in 09...

  9. What bothers you is the fact that I make it clear that I'm not sold on the western 5A programs. And I am not. I admit it. That may change and JH may change it this year. We'll have to see.

Why would I be bothered by that, since you made no downgrading remarks? And if I was so sold on the West Ky 5a programs, I wouldn't have said what I said about BGreen..I hardly consider John Hardin a Western Ky team...They're closer to Lexington than they are West Ky...

  10. Okay, explain to me why when I express my opinion I'm downgrading some one else's opinion. I said nothing to indicate that I was downgrading your or anyone else's opinion. I simply disagreed and disagree with your's. If you feel that's downgrading, then you and I have a difference of opinion as to the what is downgrading. You posted your opinion and I posted why I thought Highlands and CovCath should be ranked higher than JH. In response, I got a sarcastic post from you saying that people think its a crime if Highlands isn't rated No. 1 and pointing our its an opinion poll (as if I wasn't smart enough to figure that out on my own). But hey, its been fun and I appreciate posters supporting their home teams and teams from their region.

Hey, go back through the threads and reread if you need an explanation.. You are the 1st to respond on any thread not listing Highlands as #1, like "are you kidding me", then you have to reiturate the same things over and over, like the point wasn't taken the 1st time..Just because someone else picks another school, it's okay, buddy..Don't have a coronary...As far as the sarcastic post, if the shoe fits...

  11. Do you see this drop in 6A across the board or just in Central, KY?

I am not sure what to expect from the public schools around here right now.

Can't speak for the rest of the state, but, there's definately a big dropoff from the Ts and Xs on the western end...I'd say Apollo or Daviess Co will be the teams to beat and they're not even in those 2's league...

  12. I know its just an opinion thread but if you go on predictive history, its hard not to have Highlands, CCH, and BG. Basically saying it will BG and Highland/CCH in the state finals.

Believe me, BG is reloading this year but thats no different than previous years.

BGreen will be good, but, not to the level they've been the last few years.. I think JHardin dethrones them out west this year and I try not to base anything on past history but moreso year by year...

  13. JMO I think the Birds might be better this year than last..Especially at the skilled positions...HHS will be able to run and throw at will. The Birds were more of a run oriented offense in 2007...I think their offense will be a lot more diverse in 2008....:D

Sorry, can't see it...They'll reload as usual, but, I believe last years Highlands team was one of, if not the best they've had, at least according to alot of there own fanbase...

  14. Some people feel it's a crime if Highlands isn't rated #1 by everyone..Guys, it's an opinion poll...Take it for what it is...I know they lost alot and J.Hardin didn't...You can't base what you think J.Hardin will do on BGreen's poor state championship performances...Different year, different team, different players...After a few games, if Highlands performs to the level of 07, I could change my opinion, but, for now, that's how I see it..

  15. I assume by your rankings that you predict Monroe Co. to finish behind Green, Glasgow and Metcalfe? I can't see that happening...

I definately see Green Co and Glasgow ahead of Monroe. Unsure about Metcalfe Co.. I know they lost some really good players to graduation. I mostly put them in the consideration category because of the past couple of yrs, so you could be right..hey, this is just an opinion poll, so, if you feel Monroe deserves the props, let's hear your rankings..

  16. After reading the preseason reviews, let's hear what everyone thinks will be this years Top 10. Here's mine:

    1) Danville

    2) Ft Campbell

    3) NCC

    4) Corbin

    5) Prestonsburg

    6) Green Co

    7) Oboro Catholic

    8) Cov Holy Cross

    9) Glasgow

    10) Desales
